Singapore delivers phase 1 of masterplan for new capital city for India's Andhra Pradesh

I like the name of the capital - Amaravathi.. somehow it is pleasant to hear when compared to hyderabad..

The effect of A.P capital development has already fallen on hyderabad.. I heard many realtors and people who bought lands arounf hyd complaining that the prices haven't risen in the last few yrs...

Between Vijayawada and Guntur, on the banks of River Krishna.

Election promises are election promises.

Each state is tasked to raise its own income for development, by leasing or selling some of its lands. Like China did in its provinces back in 2000's.

There is a healthy competition between Andhra and Telangana.

Both are co operating, Andhra is giving a port to Telangana for the development sake of Telangana people.

Andhra is leaning towards USA, Singapore and Japan while Telangana is looking towards China for investments.

Election promises are promises.. I know that..
But I am talking long-term:- about 20-30 years! CBN has really taken the Delhi wala challenge to heart!(as per my contacts & observations)..

& AP is also seeking investments from China:- Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu to visit China to woo investors
CBN will be leading a trip to China this April :) to seek investment

Telangana fails to attract big companies for investment[/URL]

Yes the potential is there to make the state a strong and progressive one !

I generalized from where major investments are coming.

Singapore delivers phase 1 of masterplan for new capital city for India's Andhra Pradesh

SINGAPORE - Singapore on Monday delivered to Andhra Pradesh phase one of the masterplan for the Indian state's new capital city, marking a big step forward in the project partnership.

The 7,235 sq km capital region plan is the first of a three-stage masterplan designed by Surbana International Consultants and Jurong Consultants, in collaboration with Andhra officials.

The plan to build Andhra's new capital comes about after India's 29th state, Telangana, was carved out of Andhra last year.

The current capital of Andhra, Hyderabad - a city of high-tech industries that includes Google and Microsoft - is now shared by the two states for the next 10 years. After that Andhra will need a new capital, as Hyderabad is geographically situated within Telangana.

The yet unnamed capital city will be built on swathes of farming and non-farm land, in the Guntur-Vijayawada region, and will be built from scratch in a unique collaboration between the two countries.
[The Capital City has a Name:- ...Amaravati :) ]

The Andhra government has started the process to acquire land from around 10,000 landowners to build the city along both banks of the Krishna River.
Land acquisition is often the most difficult part of big infrastructure projects in India and the state's swift move underscores the urgency with which it is treating the project.

The phase one masterplan delivered on Monday identifies long-term economic positioning of the exisiting towns and cities within the new capital region, a statement by Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) said.

The Republic will next deliver the second stage of the masterplan which will be a capital city masterplan for a 220 sq km city.
The third phase will be a seed development masterplan for an 8 sq km development.

Visiting Andhra Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Second Trade and Industry Minister S. Iswaran on Monday chaired a high-level committee meeting on the project at the MTI. Mr Naidu is also attending on Monday a business seminar to help companies better understand the project. The seminar is organised by International Enterprise Singapore. -

@Itachi @Srinivas
@Established_1965 - Your Country will be making the masterplan for the New Capital City of Andhra Pradhesh. :) . So I just thought of tagging you, sorry if I irritated you or wasted your time.

Thanks for quoting me here :)

Surbana International Consultants are the best when it comes to City planning, they have numerous projects running in Malaysia and China.

If Im not wrong the Sri Lanka port city is planned by Surbana and If I'm not wrong Jurong International planned and developed kranji golf course in Singapore.

So your state is in good hands but its upto ur country's leadership to make those planning a working reality :)

.
As of now yes..

You see CBN doesn't want to build an idhar-udhar ka capital or a city which is a capital in name.

He wants to build a great Capital:- One which represents the hard-work, culture, knowledge & the glorious past of the People of AP..
A Capital which is grander than even New Delhi!!

Modi told/challenged the people of AP to do the above during the elections & promised his full support & it has gone in the heads of many & especially in the mind of CBN!

But at the same time, CBN is concentrating on Sri-City, Vishakapatnam ,Tirupati & one city in Rayalseema.. In the long-term he has many plans for the state & for each region.
He is just giving extra attention to the capital for now. After all AP has no capital!

As a Delhite building a City better than New Delhi ain't that hard you should aim for building another Singapore here

Don't know much about that but he is a very good leader with proven track record & our PM himself attended LKY funeral

A profile of the likely capital of Andhra Pradesh – Amaravathi:

A TELUGU IMPERIAL CITY
Ancient and medieval Amaravathi was the centre of the Telugu empire for over 1,800 years from the 2nd century BC to the 16th century AD, and the political and cultural capital of the Satavahanas, Ikshavakus, Eastern Chalukyas, Telugu Cholas, the Kota chiefs, Pallavas, Kakatiyas, the Reddy kings and the Vijayanagara empire.

ON THE BANKS OF KRISHNA
The city is on the right bank of the mighty Krishna in Guntur district, close to where the river is joined by its northern tributary, the Munneru. The new capital city zone is 35 km from old Amaravathi, where the government has procured nearly 33,000 acres between Vijayawada and Guntur through a land-pooling scheme.

WHERE THE RIVER FLOWS NORTH
Historian and archaeologist D Kanna Babu says Amaravathi is one of the few places where a river flows north instead of south or east. This is considered auspicious, and the Satavahanas chose the site to build their capital at Dharanikota, two km from Amaravathi town, well over 2,000 years ago. It is 32 km from Guntur and 39 km from Vijayawada.

A MELTING POT OF RELIGIONS
Amaravathi was a seat of Buddhism before the rise of the Satavahanas, a stupa and monastery having been built there during the reign of Emperor Ashoka (269-232 BC). The Satavahanas patronised Hinduism, and the ancient temple of Amaralingeshwara (Shiva) gave the city the name of Amararamam. Subsequent dynasties patronised Jainism as well, and the city came to be known as Sridhanyakataka or ‘City of Tolerance’.

COLONIALISM AND AFTER
It was in the 18th century that Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu, the last king of the Vasireddy clan, gave the city its name of Amaravathi, says Babu. In 1750, as part of the territory of Nizam of Hyderabad, Amaravathi was ceded to the French. The British took over in 1759, and with the establishment of the Madras Presidency, Amaravathi faded into insignificance.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
The ancient city of Amaravathi is being developed separately from the new capital zone as a heritage town with funds from the Centre. Officials are working on linking the capitals separated by over two millennia. Amaravathi is now a gram panchayat with a population of 16,000, and will soon be part of the AP Capital Region Development Authority.

i have always admired CBN and my respect for him continues to grow , for AP to have a good state capital they need CBN in power for at-least 10 yrs

when he was the cm of AP long back , he was called as the CEO of the state of AP by business leaders for his style of governance.

this was in reference to CBN

.
That's awesome!

CBN needs to use his territory for solar power generation as well. Andhra is so hot that it could easily be power-surplus on its own in a matter of a few years. I once went to Vijaywada in summer. For a pahadi like me, it was like furnace. :P

We'll have to ask our CM to get Switzerland to make a smart city plan in Sikkim. That's the closest country to our terrain with super infrastructure.

He is a respected man even among his opponents from the little politics of that state that I understand. A down-to-earth attitude with a serious business-minded mentality is what helped him develop Andhra Pradesh (ruined by YSR and his son).

Giving him the charge of the state again and his and PM Modi's mental alignment on the same plane means that Andhra's #AchheDin are in. The state has already been chosen to be the first pilot project testbed for 24x7 power supply. If the pet project is successful, it will pull dozens of industries out of the high tech Tamil Nadu, which dominates India's automotive, technical and industrial manufacturing and textile sector.

TN politicians should focus on development rather than self-glorification and needless extravaganza.

Uttar Pradesh should be next to be divided into 4 states. UP by its self has more people than Pakistan. The Cow belt Hindi BIMARU states need better administration.

He is an economics degree holder and a state ranker !

Came to politics at a very young age.
