i have come across some hindustvas who declare some indian muslim tradition as arab/foreign, so do the british/western sources, but historic truths and sources provide a negation to this hindu and western propaganda that islamic culture and indian cultures were so foreign that both had no similarities.

to start with the concept of purdah did have a hindu precedence in the indian world before the islamic invasion, a concept of gender segregation astonishingly finds reference in natyashastra dated to 1st cetury BC, the married women in india did observe ghonghat and even the unmarried females wore dupatta/head covering so islam didnt introduce head covering/modesty for women. arab visitors record the indic alcohol abstinence in india even before the invasion period.

females were required to be married soon after gaining puberty, usually at 13.

The pointed arches, minars, for instance has been symbol of islamic architecture today not to mention majority of european gothic churches ad rest of european architecture in the medieval periods, but the arch and minars had indian origins which has been surprisingly omitted in the history lessons. The Unesco has declared persian clubs ad kushti as persian origin, nowhere it is admitted that those persian traditional gyms were modelled on indian system and the reason was simply that the indians were a weak race compared to the rest.

Hindus don't wear burqa-The concept of ''modest'' dress for women is present in almost all cultures and is not exclusive to Islam, but many cultures have gone through their own reforms some of which were great for women and some not so much. Since the time of our cave dwelling ancestors humans have tried to regulate and control behaviour of women. Different cultures came up with different methods to control women and men and divise different beliefes around them to ''protect'' their culture. However the Abrhamic religions have been better or more stricters in terms of trying to control what a man or a woman does, how they dress, who they speak to, what the eat, how they eat etc. Of course that doesn't mean I support total break down of family values, family values are really important for a strong and stable society or else it breaks down case in point African American culture where family values have broken down and all you have left are dead beat fathers in prison and fatherless chidlren going around robbing and shooting people.

burqa is a relatively modern phenomenon as is hijab, face veil was practiced in india long time ago, evidences are there in the form of ghonghat.

modesty when it comes esp to india is argued to have been introduced by the muslims, im not sure if gender segregation took place in other cultures, but these sort of things which have been labelled as Islamic imports were already in place in a pre islamic hindu society.

another thing i remembered just now that the concept of menstrual impurity of women was also present in an indian society as well.
