Sikkim standoff: Strategic importance of Siliguri corridor and why India should be wary of China

I'm surprised you guys are not supporting india here? Aren't you guys meant to come to the rescue and aid of india in case if war against China or anyone else? I thought you would be guaranteeing india the use of bangladeshi troops to protect "mother india"
Anti-Pakistan doesn't automatically translate into pro-India or vise versa. We have one set of issue with India and a different set with Pakistan.Just because Pakistan has enmity with India doesn't make Pakistan 'brother in arms' with Bangladeshi people who have a wide range of complaints against India. Our perception of India and Pakistan doesn't revolve around India-Pakistan enmity. So enemy's enemy is friend, this logic doesn't apply for both India and Pakistan for us.

.
I said trolls and not Pakistan or Bangladesh. India did right not attacking Pakistan after Mumbai or Uri. We are experiencing rapid economic growth for the last twenty years and we don't want to jeopardize it by involving in futile war unless it gives us sufficient strategic leverage. Please don't confuse it with weakness or insecurity.

Yeah right! Excuses for weakness. Then why all the indian big talk about "destroying Pakistan permanently"? This reinforces the notion that indians are nothing but talk & hot air. If india ever becomes strong enough to attack Pakistan then come and talk. If not then carry on making excuses.

PS By your logic I could argue That China could WIPE india off the face off the planet with ease but the economic and political implications is preventing it from doing so.

Lol......lol.............I didn't even suggest that. bangladeshis are ANYTHING but our brothers. Not in a million years.......lol.....

India does not want to destroy Pakistan forever? Who told you so? Do you think our policy makers don't realize the importance of Pakistan being a strong nation in our west? Don't quote populist speeches or media propaganda. Action speaks louder than words.

And you are right. The Chinese are not attacking us purely on the basis of economic and strategic rationalism. Do you think they are fool enough to involve in a localised tactical war for nothing when economy is booming and continued US pressure on their east? Come on, you are a senior member. Do some rational analysis.

I meant partition of Bengal, they indeed opposed the partition of Bengal which was proposed by Mahasabha.

That's the main point. So let's agree that ML and Jinnah wanted to incorporate whole Bengal into Pakistan, then what would have happened next? I'm asking you to look beyond 1947. Bangladesh is now an independent state, so if whole Bengal would have joined Pakistan, the independent Bangladesh would have constituted the undivided Bengal, exactly what Suhrawardy and Bose envisioned.

The message that I'm trying to convey is that the partition of Bengal was the biggest mistake and the proponents of Bengali Hindu Homeland Movement are responsible for it.

That depends on interpretation. I believe, Bangladesh partially fulfilled the dream of Suhrawardy and Bose.
You are talking of a hypothetical scenario here, the whole of Bengal going to Pakistan, then India and whatever the Mukti Bahini be called in that parallel universe freeing them from the clutches of a hegemonic Pakistan to form the ultimate Bengali dreamland as envisaged by Sarat Bose and Suhrawardy. A far fetched thought, ain't it bud?

.
Is there any Indian mountain division deployed in Nepal? Nepal army will not be able resist any Chinese move on it's own. They have practically no heavy weapon.

So far as we are there, our neighbor need not worry. See, we did not let bhutan down. We stand by them and stopped the road construction of china.

Hypothetical - yes, but replace the word 'whole' with 'East' in your post and you would get the piece of history that "actually happened"! Is it that far fetched?

BD would have become an another state like many other Islamic state
I don't know, in which world do you guys live in? Most of the Islamic countries are far better off than India. Can you compare India with muslim countries like that of Kazakhstan,Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, UAE, Morocco, Lebanon, Albania, Bosnia, Iran, Algeria,Tunisia? They are miles ahead than India in every respect.Even you are not better off than your neighboring muslim countries like Maldives or Bangladesh(in many respects). You Indian are full of delusion and grandeur about yourselves and have a very primitive view about muslims.

Yes, I can compare. None of them have basic human right and all of them are religious bigot with rulling party of regime always in fear of mutiny and being thrown away. They all are fucked up countries with no decent human material and thrives on petro dollara and shall become beggers once agin whn world lears to use alternate of fuel which is going to come in next 10 years and crude oil becoming 20 USD a barrel. In none of so called Islamic country, you can worship your god nor you can do cremation of your deads. None of them will offwer you a citizenship even if you serve them for 5 decades and women are kept on Burka. Really very great countries. Bangladeshis are treated as slave in countries of your choice.

But they all have a FAR FAR better standard of living for their citizens than india does & NONE OF THEM have between 30-40% of the ENTIRE Earths most severely malnourished, deformed and extreme poor:

Let's try to conclude this discussion by agreeing that you had your reasons to remain as East Pakistan(a short sighted one as history would later reveal). Statesmen from both the sides explored an idea of unifying Bengal but that was quickly consigned to the bin. Coming to the point where you said that the people of WB did nothing to keep Bengal united is what prompted my response.

When you say this, it becomes a joke. However , it is not your fault. With Many more time poverty in percentage compared to India, your concer for Indian is really astonishing. Some time your concern and care of India makes me emotional.

So over 600 million of the world's most severely malnourished, extreme poor and deformed people make up the dubious figure of being 20% of India's population????? That means according to your logic that india has over 3 billion population!!!!!!!!

You are talking having Haque Musing figures and I am talking with referance of world bank figures. That is the difference.

You haven't really discussed why you saw that hypothesis as too far-fetched. This allows me to stick to my stand that the Bengali Hindu Homeland Movement is the main reason behind the present-day division of Bengal. I could be wrong. I'm thinking of creating a thread on this topic to seek others' opinions. Will tag you.
