Dear girl! It seems you haven't bothered to read my post above which clearly gives the reasons why India will NOT sign the NPT.

US will eventually press Japan to sign the civil nuclear contract with India. its hurting US the most. unless Japan signs the contract US can not install the reactor in India.

Russia will only gain from it. already conpleating power plants in Tamilnadu. soon will start working on plants in West Bangal. if it keeps on delaying India will award some more plants to Russia from the other nations basket.

India can definitely sign NPT as a nuclear weapon state! They like it or not, They believe it or not! India is the de-facto sixth nuclear power!

Exactly! India can, BUT PROVIDED IT IS ALSO DECLARED A NUCLEAR WEAPON STATE! There would therefore be no discrimination and will be equated with those states that tested them before 1967.

Remember, those countries that tested after 1967 are not included in the 'Nuclear Haves' club with the result that they have to disarm and have the right to only peaceful uses of nuclear technology!

Now that sucks, doesn't it? So, in a nutshell, unless and until this discrimination is done away with, there is no chance in hell that India will sign the NPT. And the same goes for Pakistan also.

Japan's opinion as nation is against Nuclear weapon and now even nuclear energy. They have suffered from it. So it's natural for them to support these things. But it's not the compulsion for anything. As one of our friend said before They just have to say it but they don't really mean it
