The rebels were blowing up the hijaz railway with british help so they couldnt get supplies. Also the troops that were stationed in medina were not able to reinforce the troops in jerusalem due to this problem.

Victory became impossible because of cut off supply lines (Arabs blew up the railway) and the Brits succesfully infiltrated Arab tribes to attack Ottomans protecting the holy places of Islam. The rebels attacked the caliphate, they started it. They same rebels even fought the al-saud family after ww1.

Also not all arabs fought with the british against the caliphate. Many fought for the caliphate.

There is one person in my grand father's village which bares the same name as a hill in Medina. They called it after him
