Hmm, LPD right now is not necessary nor is it wise to buy one.

In order for the LPD to even sail out to the sea, it will need protection,like frigates and subs etc.

Our air force is ill equipped, so buying helis or planes for the navy instead of our air force is out of the question.

Instead of buying 2nd hand LPD, it will better if we spend that money on milgem class frigates, or save up for destroyers.

why Bdesh will ever be needed a LPD???LPD mainly used to transport troops and tanks,vehicles to a distant shore.Bdesh doesnot have any distant islands like India.it also needs protection from frigate,corvette.better use the fund for much needed weaponary.

...As far as the maritime boundary's concern we do need a balance fleet. But I think subsurface fleet will be more effective in near future. After refurbishing the USCG Dallas at home we could build our own indigenous FAC or Corvette and guided missile frigates. So I think this is high time we acquired some SSK and Midget submarine for shallow border of Bay..

LPDs would make sense if Bangladesh had islands to defend. Frigates and more patrol boats is what BN needs for securing its EEZ.

Yea true but having a LPD would give Bangladesh a flag ship to guide all the frigate destroyer and petrol vessel in the hifh see along with extra ASW/SAR platform .

You don't need flagships in the 21st century. You have all sorts of communication channels available to to guide and work with other vessels.

As for ASW/SAR, you can have patrol boats which can carry helicopters. You don't need LPDs for that. LPD(Landing Platform Dock) is meant for marine landings/amphibious warfare primarily.
