Dear members , we have won a land mark verdict on the see boundary in Bay of Bengals. , in this situation we need to expand and modernize our navy considerably to gradually make it a blue water navy. along with other big warship like frigate submarine maritime patrol aircraft etc should we consider to get at least one LPD second hand/new one for our Navy ?

.
How about an aircraft carrier & nuclear subs. You need these to be a blue water navy.

DO we have money bro? But yes we can think of that after we have a trillion dollor economy(according to 2011 dollar value) and
inshallah we can achieve that in the future but first people have to get rid of a nuisance called BAL.:)

.
option seems logical considering our economic situation :
Makassar class landing platform dock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaor
if the US sell us similar classes second hand LHD/LPD from any freindly country
Tarawa class amphibious assault ship - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

money is a problem but if we consider the vast resources we need to protect from evil eye the amount is not big . secondly we can consider Indonesian makasssar type LPD/LHD which cost only 37.5 million dollar . even with helicopter and other goodies cost will maximum hover around 200~ million dollar. :)

If I am not mistaken our defence budget is 1% of our GDP. We need to increase it to 2.5% at least which I don't think will hurt our economy much. but still those figures that you have mentioned looks affordable &
quality also matters you know. But Makassar class is korean and must be high tech.

In my humble opinion - No ! Instead go for modified Sigma 10514s, Milgem Class Corvettes, more advanced FACs and the Agosta 90Bs. I think a decent modernization plan could be as follows :

5 - Sigma 10514s

10-12 Milgems

20+ FACs (the Houbeis are good !)

3 Agostas.

In the meantime, more investment on coastal defenses and ground based radars (Perhaps a tempered down Australian Jindalee) could also be a good investment.

Not to offend anyone, but Blue water navy is too ambitious right now for BD. A rational step would be to first tranform navy into a green water navy from a coastal one. You can start by buying smaller amphibuos craft like the magar class which In has and so on...

We need a LPD that can carry more Helicopter so that we can use it a anti sub marine operation as well as for SAr mission beside this the main role of the LPD can be for work as Flag ship of our naval fleet . Chinese LPD carry less Helicopter then other so better if we can go for decommissioned US LPD/LHD.

Thats is why i am considering a LPD for our navy . this induction and operation will give us the experience to operate and maintain such a huge warship which we can use for the next step for becoming a truly Blue water navy . Dreaming about a LPD step toward a modern and strong navy along with more large frigate and destroyer .

.
:rofl:an aircraft carrier for bangladesh? not going to be possible in the next 100 years.
