here is the thing we have terrorist threat in Afghanistan border and tho we are fighting it for several years conditions didn't get improved . turkmenistan has 5 million populations with standing army as well as conscripted soldiers but recently defence ministry call on reserve troops to come back and serve the army again this is new , it's tells us the conscription system are not enough for army's needs or threat is becoming much larger

turkmen reserves recalled to afghanistan border saying their farewell to their loved ones

since turkmenistan army sign the treaty of ottawa(which bans the use of minefield ) they dig ditch to stop terrorist to entering Turkmenistan which automatically increases the need for soldiers however that wasn't enough . in recent years Turkmenistan army rapidly crossed Afghanistan border something afghan government considers as violations of its sovereignty

so do you think female conscription is a good idea to solve this problem ???
Not a good idea for border security but for internal security it should be looked into

so do you think female conscription is a good idea to solve this problem ???
That is not the solution, Turkmenistan should form an army of mercenaries recruited from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

.
Turkmenistan should also increase its birth rate.
For the future, it would be very good.

Harsh conscription policy would would slow down the progress of society, especially for a small country like Turkmenistan. What they need is a small but proffessional group of soldiers. You dont face a threat of conventional war, its only a insurgency at the border, you dont need to throw 250k soldiers at them. Build well positioned strongly built outposts, send proffessional soldiers, get some drones, have a good relationship with local border folk and employ them for a small fee as village guards like Turkey does(Korucu system). At worst scenario I think Turkmenistan can call for aid from other Turkic nations. I dont know how central asian folk would answer but Turkey would definietly get involved even if not as a leading combat force.

Wonder, how i assumed ? :D

Bro, there are every kind of people in military conscription. People coming from most rural areas whom works as shepherds and don't even know to read/write, convicts, drug addicts, psychopaths. You can find every kind of people there. So, putting 20 year old girls next to conscripts is really not a good idea.

Russia can be called on to give you military equipment to fight against terrorism
we dont need military equipment and don't believe everything you read in Wikipedia
https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/turkmenistan-armed-forces.307605/
this page is much more accurate than Wikipedia we have 700 t-72 and t-90 tank we have more than 2000 APC and IFV we have close to 400 aircraft we have both armed and surveillance UAVs and HQ-9 defence system etc

we have some of the world advanced military equipment what we need is to increase our manpower , for example take a look at our air force we have close to 400 aircraft but total aircraft we operate is 72 ( 24 fighters ,44 attack aircraft .18 transports , unknown trainers and 25 helicopters ) wondering where is the rest of our jets ????

here they are . since we dont have pilot or nest to cover them we just leave them on airports in open and we need some soldiers guarding them
you can review your agreement regarding minefield ban for national security interests.
this is the most reasonable thing to do right now

@Azeri440 i agree on with u specially the wall part :D

you dont need to throw 250k soldiers at them
What they need is a small but proffessional group of soldiers

my dear brother @Targon our active personal is 30k (3000 air force rest unknown ) our reserve is 35k/40k if we had 250k soldiers at our disposal terrorist would never try to attack us we are already using small and professional army . im ashamed to admit it but size of our armed forces is smaller than Istanbul police !!! if we send 10k soldiers to Afghanistan border it's like we are sending half of our land force and yet we have lot of land to cover
turkmenistan%2Barmy%2Bmap.jpg

this is the map of our military if u look at the balkan province in the west of Turkmenistan thats a green zone in west we have caspian sea in north we have border with Kazakhstan i believe mix gender units can handle the security of this area or alternatively we must increase the years of service by conscripts

.
Every country should. I mean men a physically stronger but if a woman passes the same test, why should she not be able to do the same? Also woman in non fighting positions should be endorsed too.

. .
I don't think conscripts of any gender should be fighting terrorists. That requires specialist training.

Also I think it's better if a country's military was professional instead of conscription based. Instead of conscription there should be an Army Reserve for each province/region, like the Territorial Army in the UK which is more local. Reservists will still be given military training of course but can also carry out civilian jobs. Also there is the added benefit of having a more long term commitment than conscripts who have a limited time to serve.

As for gender roles in the military, there are many positions within the military and anyone who is capable of them should have access to those roles regardless of gender. The only exception would be if there is a threat of sexual harassment or violence and the costs of policing and prevention hampers military effectiveness.

You can't possibly say a female sniper with an awesome aim shouldn't be a sniper because she's a woman. But, maybe I'm being chauvinistic here, I can understand why the thought of a female soldier on the front line in hostile terrain facing the possibility of rape and murder if she's caught might make some think it's not their place to be there.
