So, the question is, should Assad actually do something "heroic", like launching an attack on Israel?

He knows very well that Alawistan of Tartus and Latakia is well within reach of Israeli Air Force, and the whole city of Damascus is within reach of Israeli rocket artillery.

After so many loses of men, tanks, aircraft, missile bases, chemical weapons - should he really try and provoke Israel?
