Alot of people say that it was a long time and everyone forgot about that but lets be real, I'm sure Russia is still pissed and on top of that Obama is pissing them off even more by going ahead with the missile 'shield. Everyone knows Russia has endless amount of weapons since the Soviet era which are just rusting away so 'donating' them to Taliban wouldn't be hard, it wouldn't be hard transporting them either since Russia is not far from Afghanistan.

It's funny but it feels like U.S. and USSR/Russia just switched sides, U.S's economy is tanking just like it was with USSR while spending endless amount of $ on the war, some just never learn

Russia is already supplying equipment to the Afghan government and allowing supplies through its borders, so that should tell you their view on the matter.

The insurgency in Afghanistan/Pakistan is connected to Chechen terrorists, so they'd likely see the weapons end up back in Russia.

Russia has just as much at stake stabilizing Afghanistan as the US, and probably more because they are geographically closer, which is why they are cooperating with NATO on many fronts.

Get a revenge ? for what .. Russia is not USSR and never will be.

Russia should make a strong move in its neighbors but announcing that any such move will be considered as a aggression on Russia, not by supporting the Taliban. Taliban is a rouge organization and it will turn against its own supporters any time just as they did with the US. I too hate US's policy of a missile shield in the Europe. This move will alter drastically the Nuclear weapon balance in the world.

Russia is already working on a missile shield and has been for some time. Ever hear of the S400 and soon to be deployed S500? What Russia wants access to is U.S. anti ballistic missile technology. The U.S. has leaped ahead of Russia in this area.

And for those who wish the Taliban to get Stinger type weapons remember this. The Afghan and Paksitan Taliban work together as one. If they get thier hands on such weapons expect to see Pakistani helicopters, JF-17's, and F-16's to go down in flames.

The US supported Mujahideen because the #1 enemy in the 1980s was communism, not Islam extremism. Now, its Islam extremism. The situation is different.

If any thing a escalation will start in Georgia , perhaps NATO and Russia made a understanding you take Libya , we take Georgia , this should technically happen in next few weeks or months there is already quite a bit of stuff happening in Georgia

Talibans and Chechen terrorists have a lot in common. Those Mujahideen has never forgotten U.S. is their enemy. They just used U.S. to defend against Russia's invasion.

The Taliban is already using Russian made weapons but i dont think that Russia will supply arms to them like the U.S. The whole world including U.S. have learned a lesson from the past experience..Just my view thats all
