How the hell could the world's most wanted man be living 1 km outside our Military Academy without the head of the Army not knowing anything about it.
It was a total intelligence failure on the part of Pakistan and heads should have rolled instead of doubling down and blaming each other for the mistakes.
Can we grant that our intelligence is not all-seeing and all-aware? Can we grant that other countries have had massive intelligence failures with the perpetrators staying under the radar for extensive periods of time? Can we grant that we have local sympathizers who had a hand in hiding OBL?
So why does the Army only get the blame here or why would the Army Chief know this chaps' whereabouts? OBL should have been pursued by ISI, IB, Police etc. etc. They all failed.
Abbotabad is a Cantonment, yet with very significant civilian population. Outside of the PMA means nothing as nobody from the PMA's security detail will go around checking who goes in and out of a private residence in a suburb. PMA is in a world all by itself.
Heads should have rolled, however just like no head rolled in the US after the 9/11 commission's findings, no head rolled in Pakistan because it is not easy to attribute fault to one individual or organization.
