Should Pakistan conduct strikes inside Afghan territory

Should Pakistan conduct strikes deep inside Afghanistan territory to take out terrorist sanctuaries?

  • Yes, use long range rockets and artillery

  • Yes, in addition to artillery, use airstrike through drones (UCAVs)

  • Yes, use airforce (aircrafts like JF17s and F16) in addition to drones

  • Yes, should send special OP teams to conduct intel based strikes and return

  • Yes, should capture those areas and deny the terrorists to use that land

  • No, it will be counterproductive

  • No, only fencing is enough

  • No we don't need to do anything - they are our brothers

  • Use proxies instead

Just remember any country goes to war with Pakistan and India will be the first country to be nuked into annihilation. Your fate is intertwined and no amount of yankee d**k sucking is going to change that, oh the irony. :D:tup:

No, entire western world will descend on you, like they did on Iraq in first gulf war. First to go, would be your nuclear weapons, they would either be neutralized or snatched away. And if you make the mistake of lobbying a few on American CBGs or India. Then it is curtains for Pakistan.

Let them try!! Haven't they seen the thermonukes with NK??? Starting salvo will be with a couple of like them on the Himalayas, and according to the MIT studies it'll be the end of the world order as we know it!! And, it was enough for the neo-cons!!! Bottom-line: if Pak goes down the rest of the world goes down with it. Do they have the hearts and courage to match it?????

Afghanistan doesn't have oil. Pakistan will make its play when NATO leave and it will only be India rushing around doing deals with terrorists to fight proxy wars. Stick to child killing at LOC.

I am of the opinion strikes are already happening:
DISCLAIMER: I am not claiming knowledge of these things. I am using publicly available data to see a pattern. I have documented drone strikes during the past year. Of note are the sets of strikes (4,5,6,7,8,9), (13,14), and (16,17).

In all two of three sets there is a pattern:
First, someone from the Haqqani Network is targeted very close to or inside Pakistan.
Second, almost immediately (within a day) someone from TTP is targeted on the Afghan side. Both of these times the targets have been rather important TTP commanders. Namely, Khorasani, and Sajna.

I am not usually who likes to speculate things like this but it seems very unlikely that USA is trying appease us by doing "complimentary strikes" on TTP, especially when the rhetoric coming out of the current administration is so harsh. Secondly, it seems the Pakistani side has been taking a stronger stand on drone strikes (an example of this is the statement by the Air Chief).

I am SPECULATING that we have decided to cross a line we hadn't crossed before (at least not so obviously). Every time there's a drone strike on the Haqqani Network on the Pakistani side, there's a "payback strike" on an important TTP commander on the Afghan Side. It would appear we always had the intelligence, and we did go and touch them physically when we could, but now we just send a drone if the target is in the border region. This has the following benefits:
- Deniability: No one is saying Pakistani drone strikes. Everyone will assume they are CIA strikes.
- Reduced Risk: No risk of endangering our operatives.
- Messaging: Send a message to the other side that we see you too, and can undermine your position too.
- Proportionate Response: This is the only reasonable response to a drone strike because you can't shoot down a US drone for a variety of reasons (they usually remain in Afghan Airspace, and could elicit a stronger US response if shot down)

I would love to read everyone's opinions on this. I wonder if I am putting too much faith in our ability lol.

I would say it will prove to be very difficult to control the region in the longer run.. Instead, we can do remote strikes.. but that too with extreme precision, in which innocent afghans aren't harmed in anyway..

India is by the way waiting for such an opportunity so that it may start a proxy war against Pakistan inside Afghanistan.. Pakistan will bleed more.. Right now, situation in Pakistan is quite under control. We just have to complete the fencing on afghan border so that only authorized individuals are allowed to enter through specific entry points..
That's why I have provided ample set of choices to select from..which ever people find the closest to their opinion and if nothing is up there, they are welcome to suggest.

BTW my personal view is to use proxies to the fullest..namely Afghan Talibans, support them, arm them and let them wreak havoc on NDS, RAW and other hostile assets. Provide them cover through our covert drone strikes to take out valuable TTP, ISIS and NDS targets. Fence the border, already being done, and keep a strong surveillance network both on border and deep inside Afghanistan. Gradually eliminate all anti-Pakistan elements and collapse Kabul govt. ...

.
Well pretty much every country is doing it so may as well join in on the party.

. . .
We should do drones and secret operations to eliminate the remaining ttp, bla and bra.
Make like easier for Pakistanis.
Occasionally attacks destroys the morale of the nation.
Surely pak army and it's intellegence agencies can do this task.
There is no other option. Terrorist are hidden there with direct support of nds and raw.
We need to eliminate the asap. Close our border too urgently.
