Should Indians be forced to join the army?

I agree to you ...the reason why most of the guys are not joining in the Military is becoz they can not surpass the standard set in the exam of NDA and CDS...And then they end of in getting into TCS,WIPRO and Infy Jobs with intial sal of around around 10k pm....So it is not guys are not intrested rather it is other way around....

. .
first of all, army has no shortage of jawans. second, lacks of students give NDA every year. its the high standard of army that they dont select majority of them. the people whom army want to see as their officers go for private jobs cause of better pay. but because of the sixth pay commision, situation is improving rapidly. and btw, an army officers life is the best. you cant get a better life.

Yes, I myself being an SSB reject. Too bad. There are guys who appear for SSB for 8-10 times but don't get selected. To be an Indian Army Officer you need 18 Officer Like Qualities or OLQs. Not many people possess these.

''everybdy here in Pakistan wants to serve the nation...... cant say anything abt india.''
serving your nation doesn't always mean being in the army... you can be a good engineer, doctor, research worker and serve your country....

.
I think the writer got confused that people are not willing to join the armed forces. I guess it is more about that people are not able to qualify the exams. I know around 7 guys who went for NDA exam and returned in 2 3 days....

.
From the time i can remember i wanted to join the ranks of the army but i was n't able to give my NDA exams so now my UG is getting over in an year so ill be giving my CDS or entering through NCC directorates ....yes army life is the best life one can have...and has for making conscription compulsory its a bad idea...but they can make NCC compulsory it will train the cadet for the military life and make him capable to achieve the high standards of the military and instill officer like qualities in him and thus giving a larger number of capable cadets and hence solving the shortage problem.

i agree with u mate. i was among four selected in the batch of 45 for my NDA selection. unfortunately got rejected medically due to heart murmur.

conscription wont work in india.

i think indian armed forces need to agressively market themselves. also there is a need to improve promotion and pay aspects. armed forces have got a better pay deal in sixt pay commission but there is scope for improvement in promotion aspects even after implementations of AVSC.

for example an IAS officer become Joint secretary in 13 yrs where as officers only reach the rank of LT colonel by that time. a Jt secy has same seniority as a Major general and a army man reaches major generally well after 30 yrs of service.

so naturally the bright youngsters are opting for IAS and IPS instead of armed forces.

.
The reason is the standard of SSB which is so high that they reject almost 99% outright. I went for the Engineering Corps through UES Technical Graduate Course. In the SSB at Bhopal, out of 121 only 1 got selected finally for IMA.

.
on funny aspect, being an SSB reject is not such a bad thing. some of our best minds have been rejected by SSB for example our last prez A P J Kalam was rejected by SSB wen he wanted to join airforce.

armed forces SSB follow a different set of requirements.

Its kinda worryin....... indian army faces shortage of officiers and cant get volunteers.......while its opposite in our case.

Good luck.

1.) Who told you we don't get volunteers?????

2.) You need to know the issue before commenting the fact is that millions are ready to join army but the problem is of the best quality Indian Army always chooses best among the best.

3.) The millions of talented and bright candidates can't join because they lack in english skill.

4.) In India we have so many alternatives that private industries/business woos talent with very high salaries and perks.

5.) In pakistan people don't have any job alternative so they are go for army.

.
Should India Makes it compulsory for everyone to join armed forces, what about people like me, who has a vision handicap?. I would have loved to join Navy.

Looks like it......Just look at the shortage of officers.

2.) You need to know the issue before commenting the fact is that millions are ready to join army but the problem is of the best quality Indian Army always chooses best among the best.

So among 1.2 billion ppl its hard to find smart people?

3.) The millions of talented and bright candidates can't join because they lack in english skill.

I thought india was one of the biggest english speaking countries...........silly me.

4.) In India we have so many alternatives that private industries/business woos talent with very high salaries and perks.

So thts the reason.

5.) In pakistan people don't have any job alternative so they are go for army.

Thank u for trolling...
