Should India be looking at abandoned Russian blueprints?

Buying Russian blueprints may be a good way for countries with developing defence industries to bring themselves up to speed.
A case in point would be the obvious mig 1.44 influence on the j-20.

Anyways, what i wanted to focuss on was the IAC3.
Should India consider buying plans of the Ulyanovsk from Russia?

i'd say it's definitely something to look at.

Good idea but it is too big for us...we could go for DCNS or BAE new designs, which is in the range of 50-60k ton

Why would we want the design of a failed ship?

the ship WAS indeed nuclear powered

also it wasnt a failed ship..it had been completed 40% and had to be stopped due to lack of funds when ussr collapsed

Though, i think the russians never planned for a true blue water navy. It high time we stared shifting our alignment in naval shperes at least, to the French....those guys have been making decent progress

Also, the indigenous approach will give us many side benefits.

Basically copy? Yes, India should try to reverse engineer like China has been doing. Its fair game.

Though I doubt you can just copy a carrier like that.

indegenous effort will take more time and wont probably produce something as good...
look at LCA....

obviously new tech has become available...and that may be incorporated

copy wouldnt be the term i'd use. Was hf24 marut a copy?
it would be legit as we would officially buy the plans....russia wont building them anytime soon..

i mean...BUYING the blueprints OFFICIALLY...that's not copy...that legit transfer of rights.

Ypu arent going to catch up with china's industry without getting boosts such as these....
here, you have available blueprints, all you need is people who can follow them to the letter.....
