Should India and Bangladesh form a security alliance?

Even if both countries surpassed 10k per capita and became 100% atheist(so that the hindu muslim issue wouldn't be a problem)..we cannot rule out China's influence here...China will become a superpower and will reign as a a superpower for a considerable amount of time before India catches up...Bangladesh cannot afford to be in its black-book for that time.

What makes you think India will ever be able to match China?

Using history as an example, on balance of probability India would be likely to disintegrate
as it has no dominant ethnic group to hold the country together.

What a silly thread this is!

. .
Hassena has already turned Bangladesh to India's bitch so i doubt there is any need for any security alliance. Bangladesh already wags its tail on every indian order which is pretty pathetic for any independent nation.

@kobiraaz will you clamour for negative rating?

Let's be consistent here!

More importantly both US and Canada are christian nations, both are predominantly "White" nations.

 What??? Canada is our little maple syrup obsessed buddy. Our beer chugging, donut munching bro. Canada's our best friend, guy. We're practically one nation. Hell, prior to 9/11 you didn't even need to go through customs to get cheap Canadian beer. See, that's the real legacy of 9/11. Damn terrorists ruining good beer runs for everyone.

It's got nothing to do with religion or race, it's history. Canada has always been there for us. Except that one time when they kicked our a**, we don't talk about that here in the States, but every other time they've had our back.

And when sh*t hits their fan, we hit that a**hole back, just as your big High School brother kicks your Elementary School bully's a** for picking on you.

We protect Canada because we've been through some much of the same sh*t, have the same interests like hockey and moose and big tits and are more importantly one large, semi-incestuous family.

They could be a land of Rastafarian Crab People, we'd still love and protect Canada... and their beer even more.

Mexico on the other hand...

Think like USA-Japan relationship

:o:!!

RIP India. Japan is our junior partner in crime. That weird dude in your school that's super obsessed with anime, but is secretly a ninja. He brings brains to the table is more then happy to be your best friend for life, so long as you put up with his weird quirks.

Bangladesh is that weird dude in your school that eats paste.

This would favor Bangladesh far more then India... what would India gain in such an alliance? The US gains access to West Asian waters, a peer technological powerhouse and one of the world's best non-American militaries. What besides a mutual dislike of Pakistan does Bangladesh offer India? Cannon fodder?

Its the hard bitter and sour truth. Bangladesh ever since haseena has sold itself to india piece by piece. They sold their water rights, land, foreign policy, defence policy, economy and most important of all their own country mates. It wont be long that India will consume their textile industry leaving them at the bottom of food chain. Bangladesh was founded based on freedom from external powers yet they xeroxed themselves back to situation of 1971.

I'm not disputing your overall message.

It is more kobiraaz picking me out for saying an offensive word which he said needed a negative rating.

I would like to see him be the bad-word police more consistently.

India has an open border with Nepal. No customs or no checks and for most parts Nepal had our back. In fact Indian rupee is used freely in Nepal and is more popular than local currency Its only in the recent history that Nepal's political class has gone a bit crazy.

Indian relationship with Bhutan is better still. Same open borders but we get to run their defence and foreign policy. They Absolutely have our back and we most certainly have theirs.

If Tibet had existed we would have had similar relationship with Tibet. But its never too late to have Tibet back :P

LOL.....a deal with the devil. Why would we sign anything thats clearly against our national interests?

Our main trading partner is China
Our biggest defence supplier is China
Our key development partner is China

LOL.....we should concentrate on building our economy, and hence adding to our ability to increase our defence spending.

So you would rather economically be controlled by China by China taking over Bangladesh key assets then have a security alliance?

.
alliance....India and Bangladesh should become one country, atleast some Hindu fanatics can claim victory on Akhund Bharat, and do real justice that thet actually won 1971 war completely by getting their lost land Bangladesh into India.

Hell NO.

y no?? Akhand Bharat is the way to go, the broken India since 1947, it can be united...union of Bangladesh into India will ensure that India actually won 1971 war and not the claim Bangladeshi Freedom Fighters make.

Why do you want to undo the grand design of your "great leader" jinna

Either we all stay together from the start (1947) or we stay split up and have whatever political iterations needed (as seen in 1971).

We have done enough to poke holes into two nation theory.....we are not going to forment the conditions to tempt it to start again....not with the current level of education and wealth in the region. It may open down waaaay down the road as proper economic integration etc and then we can take things from there with Bangladesh.

But that needs a lot of time, effort to occur....and lot of bad blood to finish flowing on both side.

If we are not even contemplating it currently with Nepal and Bhutan, forget about it with BD.

Well Bangladesh textile industry is almost the size of Pakistan and Pakistan is a much bigger country. Looks like it China taking all of Pakistan business, which is amusing.
