LAHORE: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested a suspect involved in putting up a notice against a religious minority group outside his shop in Gulberg.

According to a news release, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr Haider Ashraf took notice of the pasting of a poster outside a shop in Hafeez Centre declaring Ahmadis “infidels” and banning their entry in the shop.

The DIG directed the Model Town Division Superintendent of Police (SP) Mustansar Feroze to arrest the suspect. The SP constituted a police team led by Gulberg Station House Officer (SHO) Yousuf Butt.

SHO Butt conducted a raid on the shop and arrested the suspect identified as Abid Hashmi and registered a case under sections 295-A of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and 16 of the MPO against him.

The DIG said the National Action Plan (NAP) would be implemented at all costs and strict action taken against violators. He said no one would be allowed to post any hate material against any religious group.

The issue was brought to the DIG’s attention by people concerned with the contents of the poster. Under the NAP, police officials were directed to take action against any reported instances of hate speech and crime.

On Wednesday night, a photograph of the notice pasted outside the Hafeez Centre shop had gone viral on social media.

Btw good step taken by police.

The police shows that they are a little useful... Well done and commended. Jeez we need to stop their flow. Stricter regulations are needed to safeguard our minorities.

Protest against Government of Punjab for removing banners prohibiting entrance and trade with Ahmadis at Hafeez Centre, Lahore. Take a long hard look. You cannot drone or bomb people into becoming moderates.‪#‎ZarbeAzb‬ is just a battle to weaken the militants. The real war in Pakistan is about ideology. We wont win it with guns. We need mass education and awareness to create empathy and understanding. I dont blame Pakistanis who are turning radical. Our collective ignorance has allowed extremists to prey on their minds and it is our duty as a nation to develop understanding for peace.

UPDATE: Protest outside Hafeez Centre over the taking down of the poster.

Let these people protest and close their shops. From what i know, Hafeez center generates a lot of income for these daily earners and they hardly pay any tax, which means, if they close their shops or block the paths of the customers, then let them be it and suffer the consequences.

People can shop on-line these days as well.
The sooner these retailers realize that, the better.

Good step dont spread Donaldism in our country they are non muslims but that doesnot make them non human
