I dont think so. A lot of countries will be pushing for EV. China government will pump in money for this important sector. Even during 2008 US financial crisis where many parts of world suffer recession, China will still maintain grow.

EV is not only for economy growth. It part of the great strategy to decarbonize to reduce global warming. China and many other countries suffer great flood and extreme weather becos of rising temperature. Cutting down ICE and using more EV is a must. Not a choice. Saving fuel cost is secondary, saving the world is priority.

EU already going to ban ICE totally in 2035. EV can only go up and not down at the moment.

Besides, tesla is a monster, infrastructure and software lead will keep it killing competition for at least a decade.
Its building an ecosystem like apple has, watch it integrate payments cars power all under one umbrella like apple has done for communication electronics entertainment ober the last decade.
