In the last game of their acrimonious tour of England at the Rose Bowl last night fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar could be seen apparently running his left thumb along the ball's seam before dropping the ball on the ground and standing on it with his spiked right boot.

Sportsmail's pictures were taken in the 41st over of England's innings as Shoaib prepared to bowl to Paul Collingwood.

It is not the first time Shoaib, 35, has come under the spotlight at the Rose Bowl.

Four years ago, he was filmed by Sky cameras flicking at the ball with his thumb during a one-day international here against England.

On that occasion Shoaib was cleared but was warned about his behaviour after being accused of tampering with the ball during a Test match in Zimbabwe in late 2002.

The following year he was banned for two ODIs and fined 75 per cent of his match fee after being found guilty of the same crime against New Zealand in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan's disastrous tour ended with defeat and a new row last night. Pictures appear to show Shoaib Akhtar (right) tampering with the ball as England crushed the tourists by 121 runs in the final ODI at the Rose Bowl.

In one incident he is shown treading on the ball with his boot and in another he appears to pick at the seam.

The fast bowler has been accused and banned in the past for similar offences.

Four years ago he was filmed in England doing the same type of thing. He was cleared but because of previous problems, was warned about his future conduct. In 2002 he was accused of ball-tampering during a Test in Zimbabwe.

The following year he was fined 75 per cent of his match fee and banned for two one-day internationals after he was found guilty of the same offence during a match against New Zealand in a triangular series in Sri Lanka.

England captain Andrew Strauss celebrated the series win but was glad to see the back of the summer. He said: "Now that it is over we're keen to move on. I'm glad the focus will now be on the Ashes."

there is something call learning from your own mistakes...shoaib was already in a ball tampering row earlier,and inspite of the he does it again, that too at a time when all eyes are on pakistani cricketers.this was a time to improve the team's image.

To our indian friends dont try to take cheap shots just for the sake of it, and act holier then thou when your own people time and again have been named in this kinda ball tempering stuff. And who can forget the angle broad when he stepped on the ball during south africa series. So no one has a clean chit, all are guilty to some extend.
