The examples of false allegations are far less than the actual crime so we must not justify such statements by generalising .

On the other hand i perfectly understand that politicians and opinion makers are at greater risk of being grilled by media through blowing their statements out of proportion, so i feel they should think before using any phrase

But it is there & is increasing,Just the other day while travelling in the Delhi Metro,i saw a guy accidentally touch a girl on her arm nothing serious at all & the girl started a Shit storm by screening harassment,harassment & man the innocent dude got his *** handed to him[Leta Leta ke mara bechare ko].these are some examples just the scale is a bit smaller

If the victim use physcial relationship to gain something then she should not be allowed to use that as rape later. This is what these politicians are trying to say more or less.

Rape in its true sense is a real issue for Indian society. No denial.

Indeed a real issue not only for India but for many countries including mine.

I say why women have to use it even if for a second we assume what he said "fashion" thingy ? isnt it the weakness of our society to protect women rights and above all failure to provide them justice, respect and protection.

If you look at the statement generally, you might think it is a stupid remark, but when you look at the context you may find some truth in it...... I am aware of an instance where in one fellow and his gf (or whatever you call it) stayed in a hotel room for 3 days and this girl taken pictures in hotel (while checking in , checking out and few inside the room) and later filed a case of "peedanam" which can be called as rape..... That guy was behind bars for 14 days.....

But we also should look at the number of such false accusations, the percentage will be in decimals.......

NO,NO,NO & NO you misunderstood my example the guy was innocent,just a little touch & immediately apologized for it[the train stopped suddenly] & I can sure tell difference btw a Accidental one & a intentional one,what i am trying to say is that many women & girls are using these laws for their personal gains & i threw in a couple a punches too[Marks acche nahi aye thee na,Pareshaan tha toh pareshanni nikal ne ke liye ]

The choice and way of throwing words is not something our politicians are very good at. You will be surprised to hear that few days back a MP did instructed his party cadres to rape the women of opposite party. I have stopped expecting sanity and decency from politicians.And respecting women !! Not in next hundred years at least.

i understand what you are trying to convey. my point is that crimes against women in our society are at boiling point where even accidental touch can not be ignored.

Tougher rape law leading to increase in false cases? - The Times of India

Fears have been expressed that strengthening of the law against sexual offenses after the Nirbhaya case has also led to an increase in false cases. Now, there's some evidence to support this claim. Statistics on the disposal of rape cases in Delhi's trial courts show a sharp increase in the acquittal rate after the infamous December 16, 2012, gang rape.

While in 2012, the acquittal rate in rape cases was 46%, in the first eight months of 2013 (for which exact figures are available) it shot up to 75%. Sources said acquittals remain high this year as well, accounting for around 70% of the cases.

Legal experts say the high acquittal rates are because of a spurt in the number of false rape cases being filed. The observations of judges in acquittal cases also bear this out.


"This is an unfortunate trend. In many cases, women come up with the plea that they had registered the case out of anger and due to misunderstanding," said additional public prosecutor A T Ansari, one of the main prosecutors in the Nirbhaya case. A senior woman lawyer, who did not wish to be named, said, "It's sad but true. Registration of false cases is rampant and hence, the alarming acquittal rate. The new law is being misused because of the widened definition of rape."

Experts feel the amended law is "widely-worded" and "ambiguous" in parts and lends itself to misuse. "In around 90% of acquittal cases, the victim turns hostile. Mostly, it turns out to be a case of a relationship gone bad. The sex is consensual but the victim claims that the consent was given on account of promise of marriage," said a senior public prosecutor on condition of anonymity.

Many young men are charged with rape by the parents of the girls that he eloped with. Hindu did a report on this.

Oh, and if a consnensual sexual relationship goes sour, the woman charges the guy with rape as well.

The law needs to be amended to deal with these.

I know this man,,,sadly many stupid members here who have no idea on whats the definition of rape according to 2013 rape law which is a recent ammendment to the worst.According to it,,,even touching the vagina with my lips is a rape
