Even with the latest technology, this border will always remain very difficult to secure.
And what is you suggestion?

Work on the political and security operations on both sides of the border so the need to seal it is not there to the same extent.
So you prefer a solution that Pakistan tried in 50s and failed to a solution that has never been tried by Pakistan
Why can't we make a border like that of Korea?
Good luck finding sane voices in Afghanistan
Khar ba maij na si
Afghan ba insan na si
Uncle Sam and the South Korean economy pay for the border that you want to emulate. What Pakistan tried in the 50s has no bearing on the new world today. If Pakistan cannot work with Afghanistan, it has two fronts to watch out for, which would not be very feasible in the long run. Something has to give.
It is not just Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a way, anyone can come through it you know. So border has to been seen on permanent basis.
We can make a higher body like a new corps to see border matters, name it border corps.
Sure, raise another Corps. How much would that cost to train, equip and deploy permanently?

So our economy can afford loc and Indian border but not security on Durand? Wow what logic you have.
And its more feasible to build security infrastructure on Durand than having bomb blasts in kpk and rest of Pakistan bcz that hurts even more as it directly destroys civilian infrastructure and economy. And if South Korean didn't had that border do you really think they would have the economy they have today?

Good point.
"Working with Afghanistan" is a loaded term and it needs both Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Afghanistanis too have to accept that they need to have long term view of Pakistan as a partner.
they cannot and should not Moodi-fy (or Narindra-fy) our relationship that one attack somewhere in Kabul means suspension of talks.
That's stupider nay stupidest.

Yaara
That is being done too.
difference on LOC is that local Kashmiris do not go crazy when Pak army deploys 10s of 1000s of soldiers there.
FATA on the hand was different. However the change in attitudes is comiing
And yes Pakistan army / FC will now be permanently deployed there. New Cantonments are on the card all along Pak-Af border.
Still the locals have to respect this border from both sides and not raise hue and cry if they are asked to have ID papers and cross the border only on the designated points.
Then it isn't just security, there is smuggling, drugs etc. etc.
One key give multiple solutions.
Pakistan and Afghanistan needs to work together BUT:
You cannot always get what you desire.Pakistan And Afghanistan can never work together even when highly needed. Thats what I think...
Never say never in international geopolitics.
