LAHORE / KARACHI: In a second incident of Shaheen Air aircraft today, the fuel tank of a plane began leaking as it was about to take off from Lahore airport, Express News reported.

Express News correspondent Safdar Hussain, also on board flight 742 said that as the plane was taking off, the fuel tank began leaking, forcing the pilot to brake before take-off.

The 200 passengers on board the flight remained unhurt. They were shifted to the waiting lounge at the airport where they began protesting, demanding that they be flown in another airline.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesman Pervez George told The Express Tribune that Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar has directed Director-General CAA Nadeem Khan Yousafzai to thoroughly check all aircraft of private airlines.

DG CAA has ordered an immediate inquiry on this incident and has requested Pakistan International Airline to remove the aircraft from the runway.

Earlier, today in a similar incident, emergency was declared in an aircraft of Shaheen Air when two of its tyres burst during landing at a runway in Karachi.

According to Express News the plane, with about 100 passengers aboard, was bound to land at the 25-L runway at the Jinnah International Airport when the landing gear malfunctioned, causing the two tyres burst from the pressure.

Embers that sparked from the rims were extinguished with the help of water. All passengers and flight crew remained unhurt in the incident.

Following the Karachi incident, the Jinnah International Airport was shut down till 5pm and all flights were redirected to a nearby airport.

These incidents come two days after the Bhoja Air plane crash that took 127 lives on April 20.

The aircraft remained stranded for sometime at the run way and had to be removed with the help of tugs. The fire tenders and rescue workers of the Civil Aviation Authority cordoned-off the plane to avoid any untoward incident.

Air safety need a n urgent & detailed look.

Left to themselves private airlines would run aircraft like state roadways buses !

I was watching the news yesterday or day before yesterday and there was a lady whose relative (not sure brother or sister) was one of the victims of recent Bhoja Air incident, she said that the PM came and visited the relatives at the airport just as a formality and media stunt and did not talk to any of us, he came and went hurriedly. And then she continued and said why don't their planes crash, why is it that only the planes for public crash?

And I was saying to myself yes his (PM's) plane should crash with him on board on the President House with the president in it.

And then later in the evening the same channel was reporting that the PM's Plane had to make an emergency landing at Lahore Airport.

KARACHI: Passengers on-board an Islamabad-Karachi fight on Sunday escaped unhurt, when the plane suffered a tyre burst during landing at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport, Geo News reported.

The plane of private airline Shaheeh Air coming from Islamabad made emergency landing after developing problems in landing gear.

The runway of the airport has been closed for operations till 05:00 pm and a notification to this effect has been issued. During this period flights would use alternative runway.

According to details, a passenger plane of a private airline Boeing 737-400 made emergency landing.

While talking to Geo News, a female passenger said the plane is tilted towards left side and water is being poured on to the engines. 'There are around 150 passengers.'

Later at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport, another Shaheen Air Mashad-bound plane had to brought back seconds before takeoff after it was revealed that the fuel was leaking.

i had a similar experience with Aero asia....
at the exact moment when the fron tyre went in the air and load shifted to rear tyres...two rear tyres exploded.
the plane has to abort takeoff and do emergency thrust reversal..
and that as in 90s...
if its still happening..it means not much has improved since then.

Kingfisher is in dumps not because of safety failure.
When it was suspected that age of aircraft's can be one of the cause in the Bhoja Accident they should have grounded Shaheen Air and Bhoja Air for detailed inspection. But they allowed another 30 year old Bhoja Air aeroplane to fly with the relatives of the victims that died in the crash.

P.S - I would rate Kingfisher one of the best when it comes to in-flight service.

The pax left the aircraft after 30 mins, itself a gross violation of safety rules.

The Bhoja air aircraft was also a former Shaheen aircraft, so that is two shaheen aircraft in trouble today, and one former aircraft 3 day back.
