LAHORE: People are committing suicides due to poverty while Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is spending Rs200 million of taxpayers money on his security paraphernalia.
The tirade against the chief minister was launched by four women parliamentarians belonging to the PML-Q here on Wednesday while addressing a press conference.
They said Shahbaz Sharif should go back to Jeddah if he felt so insecure in Pakistan, adding it was criminal to spend such a huge amount of money in the name of security when poverty was so rampant in the country.

They criticised the government for what they called reneging on its promise to sell all expensive vehicles and deposit money in the provincial exchequer.
Instead, they alleged, corrupt bureaucrats were being rehired and given the task of political victimisation.

Ms Samina Khawar Hayat, one of the four parliamentarians, said deployment of a DIG, three SPs, 12 DSPs and 1,000 constables to ensure security ring around the CM was criminal use of public money.

Majida Zaidi, another participant of press conference, said people needed security and bread, not empty words.

Low-priced `roti’ was a political gimmickry, which was getting exposed by the day, she said, adding neither quality nor quantity of the roti was up to the mark.

The parliamentarians promised to keep raising such issues at all forums because the PPP and PML-N were playing 'government-opposition' game and neither was exposing the other.

For the love of god, he has his own DIG, what the hell has he taken half of Rawalpindi's police with him to Lahore? And he is not even a PM or President so why so much security, back in 06-07 ministers were usually given an Elite Squad 6 people, 1 lacky from special branch and a DSP from VIP protection division.

Yeah, and then what about those bullet proof cars that he was going to auction ?? Never heard about them again. I bet he is going to keep all of them alongwith some new additions. Afterall, he has come to power after so many years, he just can't afford a threat to his life without making up for the loss.

I think it is correct for such high profile people to have this much security. In Pakistan's environment, you cannot have too much security.

It is better to spend this money, than to see teh dead body of another political/adminstrative leader on our tv screens. I say, we should extend security to all parliamentarians, mpas, dcs, judges, nazims, etc. Of course, the general security of the populace should not be neglected either.

We must make it as difficult as possible for the terrorists to strike.

You are so funny lol so lets see! we will calaculate the personals that you have mentioned we have all together 442 parlimentarians or MPA's god nows how many judges Pakistan has iam positive that almost 1000, nazims almost 500 forget the ETC! lets do the math 442+1000+500=1942. hmmm so multiply it with 200 million rupes so it should be" 1942*200,000,000= 388,400,000,000, " which means it will be over 388.4 billion rupees lets make it into dollars. WoW its only little more then $4.7 billion dollars!!!! not bad.

hey..steady there, young Leibniz. How many of these parliamentarians are Chief Minsters of a Province?

Last I checked, there were only four in Pakistan. Of course it goes without saying, that higher profile should get more security than those with a lower profile. But protection must be given, or the terrorists will get another publicity coupe by eliminating a "high profile target".

I thought someone like you would be intelligent enough to note, that I didn't mean for every one of those mentioned to get the same level of security as Shahbaz Sharif does. Some might just need an armed escort, or two, not the 200 million spent on each person.

It's sad to see young Pakistanis have so much time on their hands to make such calcutations, and force me to reply to them...
