Sexual health book in Pakistan schools draws protests

Why introduce a separate subject to introduce sex education ?
Just include some chapters of sex education in subjects like Social Sciences from Std 9-10, there's nothing much to object in this. :)

Introducing sex education before class 9 won't be a good idea, that'll corrupt the juvenile minds.

.
Thank God. India is not such repressed society. Sex education is important. We are not living in 14th century this is 21st century for gods sake.

Sexual health book in Pakistan schools draws protests

Karachi, April 11 (IANS) A school book on sexual health, which exhorts use of "secure procedure" during sexual intercourse, has been termed controversial as a parent asked "Is this what we send our daughters to learn from school?"

Well, in my opinion sex education should be implemented in every school in 8th class and onward as it is on average the puberty age. It's not that I'm in favor of this implementation but come on guys be realistic - sit down with your family one day and turn on your television, one way or the other sex is being promoted in every television show which makes you shy not to watch it with your family - from Drama Serials to commercial advertisements, and yes I'm talking about Pakistani channels not Indian. Go out to a Market for shopping, and see those advertisement boards with girls sitting in awkward positions with red blooded lips and short dressing with sexual parts of the body catchy to the eye. Turn any newspaper and see on page-3 what kind of pictures has been given of celebrities, leave the menace of mobile phone and their ads alone and these kind of events are very popular among the youngs to discuss with each other at their schools and gatherings with no option to escape.

Now, what a poor young blood can do in this case to fill the thirst of his lust - look for a girl friend or a prostitute or use a shampoo or spit on his hand - you can simply not escape the environment and the environment has been created as such to make you want SEX - but in any case sex education is necessary in todays time and age.

Good to know that India is the most advanced country as far as this promotion of sex is concerned. even more advance than UK what to say about Pakistan :)

Oh BTW we are happy that Pakistani parents are on a par with British Parents atleast in this case ;)

British parents object to sex lessons for Scouts

ue, Apr 5 08:34 PM

London, April 5 (IANS) Many parents and family experts in Britain are agitated over a new policy that encourages providing sex-related information to teenaged Scouts.

As per the policy, Scouts in their mid-teens will be able to ask their leaders any questions they like about sex. Over 35,000 boys and girls in the Explorer Scouts group, from 14-18, will also be given information about abortion, condoms and sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea, the Daily Express reported.

Family campaigners, however, have called the new rules 'completely inappropriate' for the Scouting movement.

'Local Scout groups are not the right environment for even more sexualisation of our children,' says Patricia Morgan, writer and campaigner for parental rights.

'Parents send their children to these kind of activities to enjoy themselves and have fun in very healthy and innocent ways, not to come home with a pocketful of condoms.'

'We have done nothing since the introduction of the Teenage Pregnancy Strategy in 1998 but force-feed young children and teenagers information they do not need about sex, and the result has been ever higher teenage pregnancies and soaring rates of sexually transmitted diseases.'

'Even among parents who welcome sex education, the feeling may be that it is more appropriate at school than in after-school settings,' says Anastasia de Waal of the think-tank Civitas.

According to Health Protection Agency figures, Britain has the highest rate of sexually transmitted infections and teenage pregnancies in Europe.

However, Chief Scout Bear Grylls says: 'This programme is about getting the right information to young people to help them make smart decisions about their relationships. We want to help young people become confident, clued up and aware.'

Explorer Scouts, a section of the Scout Association in Britain, are meant to provide a flexible and active Scouting programme for adolescents, with an emphasis on personal challenge and adventure.
