As many as eight persons were injured in a blast that took place near the Quaidabad flyover, media reports said Friday night.

SSP Malir told media that police cordoned off the blast site and are yet to determine its cause and intensity. He added that the police have gathered evidence from the area.

Rescue teams and police quickly reached the site. All those injured were transferred to the Jinnah Hospital, reports said.

The police, along with the bomb disposal squad, have launched a search operation in the area.

According to reports, the noise of the explosion was heard at distant places while mirrors of the nearby buildings were shattered as a result of the impact.

Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and sought a report from the additional inspector general of police. He directed the authorities to provide medical assistance to the injured.

At least two dead, 10 injured in Karachi blast

KARACHI: At least two persons were killed and 10 others were injured Friday as an explosion took place in Quaidabad area of Karachi, police said.

SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur said the blast took place under the Quaidabad flyover near a crowded area of the locality. He said the police were yet to ascertain the exact nature and cause of the explosion.

Five injured of the blast were shifted to Jinnah Hospital. Dr Seemi Jamali confirmed that two of the wounded persons had succumbed to their injuries.

She said that five other wounded persons were in critical condition at the hospital.

Power supply to the surrounding areas was disrupted following the powerful explosion, which could be heard from a distance.

According to information received to Geo News, the blast took place at a crowded place where several vendors set up their stalls.

Police have cordoned off the site and are looking for any clues.

At least seven people have been injured in an explosion near Quaidabad Bridge, the Malir SSP said.

The injured have been shifted to Jinnah hospital.

The police and Rangers have reached the spot and trying to ascertain the cause of the explosion.

At least 2 persons have died while 6 others received injuries following an explosion which occurred underneath the Quaidabad flyover in Malir area of the Metropolis on Friday night, police said.

The injured have been shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where the condition of injured is said to be critical.

“At least eight to 10 people sustained injuries when an explosion occurred near the stalls of roadside vendors under the Quaidabad flyover,” said Karachi East Zone DIG Amir Farooqi. Two injured succumbed to their injuries on their way to the hospital.

The senior officer said that the exact nature of the explosion was being determined.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was quick to take notice of the incident and sought a report from the Additional IG Karachi and directed that all possible assistance be given for the treatment of the injured persons.

At least two persons have been confirmed dead and 8 others injured on Friday in an explosion under the Quaidabad flyover in Karachi, police said.

According to initial reports, the blast shattered the windows of nearby buildings and caused a power outage in the entire area.

The bomb disposal squad reached the site to collect evidence, with the police cordoning off the area and looking for clues related to the blast.

While police ascertain the cause of the blast, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah sought a report of the incident.

Rescue services say that the injured have been shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
