I agree with you. we in South Asia give too much importance to useless things that have no impact on our lives. Indian news will probably not get a ticker tape treatment in their newspapers nor do their public give a rat's @ss about it. I guess we still carry the yoke of slavery of our colonial masters even after 65 years of their departure.

Newspaper not only cater local news but international news which include news about celebrities, internation sports/events and foreign affairs. The international news section is there for this purpose and posting such news by TOI don't make you slave of British or India as colony of britian. You are azaad free man

An Indian newspaper reported the "royal baby" thing. So what? It's being reported around the world. No need to view it as a sort of reflection of India's colonial past. As for the news itself, it's pretty annoying. I've personally never been quite fond of "royalty". Words like "royal" and "elite" are meaningless, in my opinion. But that's beside the point. All I'm saying is, the public is interested in it, the media reports it. That's how news networks work. All news networks, not just the TOI.
