Senior IAF Officer sacked for 'harassing' two women

NEW DELHI: A senior group captain of the Indian Air Force's Eastern Command has been removed from his charge for allegedly harassing two women, an NDTV report said on Tuesday.

One of the women who has levelled the charges happens to be the wife of another Indian Air Force officer, and has complained to the Chief of Air Staff against the officer, the report said.

An inquiry has been initiated following the complaint. The sacked fighter pilot was reported to have been decorated recently.

NEW DELHI: A senior Group Captain of the Indian Air Force (IAF) posted in the crucial Eastern Command that looks at China, has been removed from his current charge for allegedly harassing two women.

Sources told NDTV that IAF Headquarters received complaints from at least two women who alleged that the officer had harassed them. A court of Inquiry has been ordered.

The Officer, sources said, will not continue with his normal duties till the inquiry is over and been has attached to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The accused officer was also decorated recently.

This is not first time allegations of harassment have been made against serving officers. The forces have a zero tolerance policy in dealing with cases of harassment and misbehavior. And, in the past officers have been sacked and in some cases even jailed for such offences.

I think moral standards of IAF / IA getting low on daily basis, recent weeks many news related to that issues circulated, recent rise in rapes and molestation in India not only effected civilians but the armed forces also infected by this disease so sad.

He has not been sacked, an inquiry is on, the decision to court martial him will be taken after the result of the inquiry. Its not the first time women/wife of armed forces personal have levied charges and has come out wrong.
