The BNP on Monday asked the government to send ships and, if needed, army aircrafts to bring back expatriate Bangladeshis from Libya.

The main opposition made the suggestions while announcing a seven-point proposal to rescue the Bangladeshi citizens stranded in restive Libya and on its border.

Expressing grave concern over the condition of the Bangladeshis expatriates in Libya, the party said the government showed insincerity in evacuating around 60,000 Bangladeshis putting their lives into danger.

BNP chairperson’s adviser Dr Osman Farruk placed the proposals at a press briefing at the chairperson’s office in Gulshan in the noon.

The other proposals are diverting some flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines to Libya and increasing the number of staff with different Bangladesh missions near Libya and Tunisia.

The BNP also recommended the foreign minister and the expatriate welfare minister to go to Libya personally to oversee evacuation of the Bangladeshi expatriates.

BNP vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury was also present at the briefing.

7 points suggestions made by BNP. Looks like they are back into smarter way. Appreciating BNP.

@ We have already one frigade stationed at Lebanon and some ships located at Sudan. We may utilise those. I heard that we have some Helicopters also stationed at Sudan. Why not to utilise those first.

A navy is not usually as large as the commercial transport ship. And, Helicopter is not viable option as UK-SAS/Dutch troops being caught news are popping up on the global news.
