Seeing Bangladesh as burden was wrong: Shehbaz Sharif

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday (28 October) said that it was wrong to consider Bangladesh a burden.

While addressing the passing out ceremony of the 48th Specialized Course of Police Service in Islamabad, Shehbaz Sharif advised all to learn from past mistakes, reported Minute Mirror.

He said, "The idea of abandoning Bangladesh was wrong, it should not have been separated from Pakistan. I am cautiously saying this because at the time the idea was that it is a burden, so take it off."

Shahbaz also noted that today Bangladesh is way ahead of Pakistan and their exports are more than that of Pakistan.

Speaking about seeking foreign aid, the Pak PM said, "We don't lack anything; I wish we didn't have to go to someone and ask."

"We have to live in this world, we cannot go everywhere asking for money, this is not politics or service, we need to learn from our mistakes and look ahead."

Does he make up "facts" like these? I have not heard of this story. Exactly who did the "Seeing", "Considering" and "Abandoning" he talks about? And how does he wish "should not have been separated" would have happened?

The constitutional roadblocks of the first republic were ill equipped to deal with fighting poverty as the first republic had sole purpose of ensuring survival. Lethargic colonial administrative system ran out its course and so did time as war engulfed Pakistan between first and second republic with sweet bonus of absolute dictatorship thrown in the mix.

Geography can also be cruel.

I thank the Pakistani PM for saying positive things about Bangladesh.

But, it is not only today's Bangladesh exporting more than Pakistan. Even before 1971, it was east Pakistan that was exporting more than west Pakistan.

Jute was the main export item in those days. The market almost evaporated in the mid-70s when plastic products came to the market for use more in quantity and jute lost its glitters.

But, BD replaced jute with garments that glitter.

This should not be in the BD section.

Retrospection in PK better belongs in PK section.

The union of two muslim parts of the subcontinent was a good thing and the concept rightly has and will continue to have sympathy in BD as the concept of muslim sovereignty was born here in Dhaka and was realised here as bengal was the only place that muslim league held political power.

But with hindsight there is no conceivable way any BD could conclude the union should have continued with BD being second class citizen in their own country continiously subsidising the wests development at the expense of the East.

The feeling of PK politicians are valid in PK context. It is not aimed at BD. Please post it in the PK part of the forum.

With the right policies, Bangladeshs garment industry would have started in the 60's.

Shehbaz Sharif being born was wrong.
His mum should've aborted him instead.
How about his elder brother Nawaz Sharif? I think both the brothers should not have been born because they are cursed by a talented guy like you.

Now, enjoy watching what Nawaz Sharif talks about the Bengali Muslims.

Pakistan army should have stayed within their barracks...

Pakistani military did one good thing…

They wiped off most of the lefty loons and pseudo intellectuals affiliated to Dhakaya University.

Which meant we could build a market based economy.

Saifur Rahman’s market based economy with low regulation has been maintained for 45 years - allowing us to grow at a steady pace.

Unfortunately, operation searchlight wasn’t lethal enough because we still have a cohort of pseudo intellectuals spouting nonsense on YouTube.

@Nergal and @bluesky have been brain washed by these idiots!!!

I would love to see Dhakaya university burnt to the ground. So that we could rebuild our academia based on English.

Our education system is a barrier to us reaching middle income status.

You are too judgmental and love to project your words to others.

I'm wondering how can a man who was born in UK become soo judgmental!

Btw , you still didn't provide any single source that back your baseless claim that Pinaky is raw mole!

He is a raw mole because only raw moles promote chaos in BD.

Koran says, only people with clean heart will recognise the forked tongued Satan.

Time to examine your heart!
