Secret US and Afghanistan talks could see troops stay for decades

The Americans are not going to leave , if they had to leave we would have seen movement of their equipment in and out of Pakistan but observers haven't noticed any such movements.

Also the huge bases, which are like mini cities , that they have made in Afghanistan have not been made with the intent of leaving. The Americans have never left where ever they have gone , they have bases in Germany and Japan even today after more than 60 years after the war.

Afghans will be force fed McDonalds and Burger King for a long long time unless they do something to take their country back

i am already ranting from one year in front of pakistanis that usa wont leave....but they still not getting this point

An "un-emotional" study of history about fauj clearly shows that Super powers from the time of Romans (and perhaps earlier) all the way to Turks and then to Americans, always maintain direct or indirect presence in the areas of their influence.

when a large force sacrifices its young and precious soldiers, it hates to leave the area.

Let's learn a bit form fauj history from recent times.

WWII was imposed on Americans. They lost 400,000 of their precious jawans and officers.

As a result US is maintaining its troop presence in all the areas including UK, Germany, Japan, and Italy.

North Korea made a mistake of invading S Korea. And guess what US has approx 40,000 troops permanently stationed in SK.

Same thing will happen in Iraq and Afghanistan. Do not buy the US-Lefite propaganda that US forces will vacate Iraq and Af. They won't.

Be prepared to see 15-20K troops in both of these countries. This can only change if US economy can no longer afford it, or American extreme left takes over the government.



Leftie Lifta jurnos of Pak Urdu media may have mirchi up their behind, but to be honest, American or any disciplined force is badly needed to maintain some semblance of law and order in Af.

It will be good thing for Af too. They will finally have someone to teach them as to how to be a nation instead of a collection of war-lord fiefdoms.

it will be good for Pakistan too. FATA will finally be civilized and thus becoming part of the mainstream Pakistan.

It is sad that we have let FATA to fester in the hands of drug lords and smuggler mafia.

it is time to allow FATA to have "rule of law" that is written. They need regular court system and regular police system.
