Arjun MK2 IA should order more than 124 of them idk why IA is not ordering a lot of Arjuns anybody know why? is it becuz of high cost or IA soldiers want more T90?

The Arjun, which has been fitted with 58 tonne German engine , was inducted in the Indian Army over a year ago. The Indian Army has placed an order for 124 such tanks.

No answer needed. Everything except the specifications will be discussed with lots of bashing and trolling.

Al Khalid II can be compared with T-90M not Arjun mk 2. Arjun mk 2 weight is 62 tons. Much heavier.

Apart from its phenomenal missile launching capabilities, Arjun Mark II also has an enhanced auxiliary power unit, explosive reactive armour panels, mine plough, automatic target tracking, advanced land navigation system, digital control harness, and advanced commander panoramic sight among various other features.

A mine plough integral part of Arjun mk 2? Advanced commander's panoramic night sight a good addition.

New Delhi: The second round of field trials of the advanced version of the Arjun Main Battle Tank have begun in Rajasthan's Pokhran ranges.

The Mark-II version of the Arjun MBT includes advancements in areas of missile firing capability, lasers to detect anti-tank mines, improved armour, power generation system, automatic tracking and navigation systems.

"The trials started last week and would continue for sometime. It is basically aimed at incorporating the specific technological advancements needed by the Army," Defence Spokesperson from Jodhpur, Colonel SD Goswami told a news agency.

Designed by Defence Research and Development Organisation's Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), Chennai, the Mark-II versions of the tanks would have more than 90 modifications in its systems.

Special attention is being paid to the chassis of the tanks to give it speed and extra manoeuvrability over all the terrains.

Compared to the Mark-I variant, the tanks would have an enhanced Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) with a capacity of 8.5 kilowatt, digital control harness, Advanced Land Navigation Systems (ALNS) and Advanced Commander Panaromic Sight (ACPS).

Besides CVRDE, several other DRDO agencies like Pune based High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Instruments Research & Development Establishment (IRDE) Dehradun, Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Hyderabad are involved in developing the Arjun Mark-II.

The first batch of Mark-II versions of the tank is expected to roll out by the end of 2014.

Having read so many stellar features in it, mostly in the Arjun Mark - II (israeli view) I wonder why has the induction process been lackadaisical ?
