The second Indian Air Force Global 5000 arrived for a night stop at Shannon last night on the first stage of its delivery flight to Tel Aviv, following the footsteps of the first example in June.
Local Shannon photographer Malcolm Nason was on hand to catch the moment late last night when msn 9431 / C-GHYK touched down in Shannon having completed the flight from St Louis Downtown under Bombardier callsign BBA19.
Although no official announcement has been made regarding the roles of these 2 Global 5000 aircraft, its understood that IAI will be performing work on the aircraft to create systems similar to the Raytheon developed Global Express based Airborne Stand-Off Radar (ASTOR) system deployed by the UKs Royal Air Force, which saw active service recently in Afghanistan.
