Second Foreign Delegation To Visit Jammu And Kashmir This Week: Sources
So far, the plan is to take the diplomats to Srinagar on January 9, where the Army would brief them on ground situation in the Kashmir Valley. The next day, they would be taken to Jammu to meet some prominent people.

Around 16 India-based diplomats will be in Jammu and Kashmir for a two-day visit

New Delhi:
A fresh group of foreign diplomats will go on a two-day visit Jammu and Kashmir this week to see first-hand the ground situation in the new union territory. This would be the second time a foreign delegation will visit Jammu and Kashmir since the Centre scrapped the special status of the state granted under Article 370 of the Constitution in August and bifurcated it into two union territories.

"The government has decided to take around 16 India-based diplomats to Jammu and Kashmir for a two day visit," a senior official told NDTV. The envoys are from the Organisation of Islamic Corporation, ASEAN, European Union and Latin America. The ministry has asked the respective countries to pick the visiting diplomat.

So far, the plan is to take the diplomats to Srinagar on January 9, where the Army would brief them on ground situation in the Kashmir Valley. The next day, they would be taken to Jammu to meet some prominent people. The final plan is yet to be worked out.

"The government wants to deflect international condemnation and this way they are hopeful," the official explained. Several nations and the US House of Representatives have expressed concern over the continuing restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir, including on internet, on since August 5.

A series of restrictions were put in place at ahead of the Union minister Amit Shah's announcement in parliament about the government's move. The government said the measures -- including a ban on internet and phone services and the detention of political leaders in the Valley -- were meant to prevent any law and order issue.

In October, the government had allowed 23 lawmakers from the European Union to visit Jammu and Kashmir - a move that left the opposition furious. Till then, the opposition had not been allowed to visit the state. A delegation led by Congress's Rahul Gandhi had been turned away from the Srinagar airport.

In Parliament, the ministry of home affairs had explained the move, saying: "Such exchanges promote deeper people to people contact and ultimately it feeds into the larger relationship which any two countries would like to develop"

A rabble of islamophobic migrant haters whose composition was further edited and censored by Delhi does not count as your first "delegation".

Switch the internet on in Kashmir so the local media can report.

Your "delegation" doesn't need to go to Kashmir. There's a pretty good feel of kashmiri "freedoms" and "development" internet lockdown, protestors shot in the back and head, roving RSS bandits assaulting students and trashing of Muslim homes in mainland India these days.

Terrorists in Delhi are arranging more neo-Nazi picnics while Kashmiris die because of the siege.

O pray, how did local media report, 20 years back, when there was no internet ?

Btw internet has also been partially restored along with phones and SMS services.

And there is no curfew in J&K as is evident from this rally on Sulemani's death.

What seige, who died ? Not a single, Kashmiri protestor has died at the hand of armed forces in last 5 months.

So Delhi reports and pushes its propaganda by internet while Kashmiris get typewriters. The point is Kashmir should be on a level playing field, whether that's internet, typewriters or smoke signals.

Have any security forces been arrested for executions in Kashmir, pellet gun attacks on civilians and ransacked homes of Kashmiris? Did you know hospitals were forced to rewrite death certificates, medical notes ....and doctors were forbidden from speaking to journalists about civilian casualties?

Your propaganda is so pathetic it's become a laughing stock. The world isn't interested for political reasons but why keep lying about what's going on?

Did you release the politicians and their families and business leaders who were arrested without charge and detained away from Kashmir yet? If you're happy with protests, why are they all under arrest?

What seige, who died ? Not a single, Kashmiri protestor has died at the hand of armed forces in last 5 months.
Read the article Hindutva scum. Kashmiris died because of the siege, due to direct police fire AND direct military action AND indirect effects of the siege. Why lie about this? You're achieving your objectives. Why be embarrassed if it's come at a price of human lives? You should be proud of the Hindutva progress.

Even in that delegation, one or two of the consevative politicians opted out and literally exposed India. Short term memory or?

Have you forgotten the fact that the Shiite processions were not allowed during Muharram?

Have you maybe forgotten the tact that there are still 500,000+ Indian soldiers stationed there on the streets. Making picnic? Or for a few tens of "terrorists," you need 500,000 for that? It's pretty obvious what they're there for.

So why do you think, this procession was allowed now?

50,0000 Indian troops on streets of Kashmir, wonder who is guarding Jammu and Kashmir's massive borders with Pakistan and China?

Probably to keep the tensions low. The muharram processions were stopped because kargil muslims roll out their support for independency during that too, last time they carried banners of Burhan Wani.

Also 500,000+ para

Idiot. What has mourning of an Iranian got to do with the complaints of kashmiris against the Indian state?
Let them assemble, organise and protest against Delhi. Let them protest against enforcement of non-Kashmiri hindutva investment designed to deprive them of local land rights. Let them protest against the Gaza-fication, the summary detentions, the killings of civilians, the abrogation of the rights to autonomy they fought for and earned 70 years ago. Let them protest against all that with their unshackled elected leaders at the front of the protests, marching to your parliament building. Let them protest against the fixed elections, the demolition and dissolution of democracy, the installation of a Hindutva dictator laughably referred to as a "governor", the war crimes, the rapes, the staged encounters, the pillaging of homes by security forces, the decisions made over 370 without their consultation or permission as was guaranteed to them by your clown college of a state.... Let them protest and then investigate and return justice for all the above transgressions. Then come talk. You think a neutral protest over a dead Iranian aimed at USA is some kind of gift to Kashmir? Of course you're allowing this protest because it isn't aimed at Delhi and Delhi's lies and crimes against Kashmiris .

show us report these numerous deaths due to this supposed siege.
Do you understand English? I explained this already. When death certificates are faked, internet communications are barred and medical records altered, the evidence of such killings is removed. Enjoy wallowing in your self-perpetuating manure pit.

Good to see that India is inviting leaders from a variety of different areas and geopolitical blocs, such as EU, ASEAN, Organization of American States, and even the OIC. India has so far done a good job of fighting the narrative war.

No support for oppression . invitation refused

New Delhi:

Countries from the European Union will not be part of the foreign delegates' team visiting Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow at the Centre's invitation. Diplomatic sources from Europe told NDTV that the envoys do not want a "guided tour" of Jammu and Kashmir and would visit later and meet the people they want to meet.

Parliamentarians from the European Union had visited Jammu and Kashmir in October - three months after the Centre scrapped the special status of the state granted under Article 370 of the Constitution and bifurcated it into two union territories. During the visit - meant to check the ground situation -- they met the locals and were briefed by the security forces. That visit was in a private capacity.

A similar schedule has been planned for the two-day tour that begins tomorrow, which would be attended by envoys from the Latin America and Africa. Diplomats from Australia and several Gulf nations, who were expected to go, have dropped out due to what they called "scheduling" reasons.

"EU envoys don't want a guided tour of Kashmir. We want to meet people freely of our own choosing," a source told NDTV. The official said some of the envoys are also keen on meeting the three former chief ministers --- Farooq and Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti - who have been in detention since the Centre announced the move on August 5.

The confinement of Kashmir's political leaders and the ban on internet, which have run into the sixth month, are among the restrictions that have raised concerns abroad. Several nations and the US House of Representatives have referred to the matter.
