Then..shhh..then make sure to tell Huawei that they were stupid to be out of the market for so long when they could have been making 7nm chips years ago cheaper with the DUV machines China already has instead of waiting for expensive EUV machines. All those years of lost revenue for nothing. Incompetent upper management.
Not every country have the skills to manufacture 7n using DUV at high yield. There is a learning curve. The more you make the more you learn.
It takes a while to tune the process and and to upgrade the DUV 1980i to 1980fi.

So Huawei and SMIC kept this secret from Raimondo all these years. :enjoy:

ASML also disinform Raimondo about its DUV capability. Tell Raimondo to ban the 2000 series but allow the upgraded 1980fi DUV to be exported.

No, Chinese EUV is realistically 10 years away. The best domestic lithography machine can only produce 28nm. SMIC is using repeated exposure techniques with DUV from ASML to produce 7nm chips.

The US didn't want EUV lithography technology sent to China.



The machines are made with parts from several companies..many of which are US (not China BTW :enjoy: ) which is why we can restrict the machine's sales.

As Kissinger once said to be America's friend is fatal. Lolol. Your sanctions are supposed to keep China above 14nm,no? Almost all legacy ASML machines from recent years can be tuned to produce 7nm and 5nm, the problem is the yield and cost. China has a 32nm euv machine that can produce 5nm chips in small volum3m3s but so what? The key is cost effective mass production. US politicians openly say that the sanctions were designed to keep China from achieving 14nm and below and yet China proved them wrong.

Chinese Fab Achievment that was publicized was only the tip of iceberg, in reality they already achieve far further in the fab tech. Even with this small public announcment there's plenty of butthurt americans and indians (with american flags) trying to smear and spread fake news about china all the time.
