Flying academy ready to take in women trainees | A1SaudiArabia.com

JEDDAH: Kameel Abu Joudah, director of the Rabigh Wings Aviation Academy, said there were many Saudi women eager to join the academy to learn flying.
The academy will consider the applications if regulations permit women to learn the skill, Abu Jouda said.
He said there would be no separate training regulations for women trainees. “The same academic rules applicable to men students will be implemented in the case of women students as well. However, women trainers will be recruited from Lebanon or the United States to teach them after getting the approval of the General Authority for Civil Aviation,” an Arabic newspaper quoted Abu Jouda as saying.
The director also thanked GACA for issuing licenses to young trainees who completed their training successfully. He said the licenses varied from 40-hour flight log to 190 hours.
The Wings is a newly established modern flight training school located in Rabigh, 115 km northwest of Jeddah on the Red Sea coast and minutes away from King Abdullah Economic City.
It offers training in 10 aircraft such as single engine Cessna 172SP G1000, Cessna 182T G1000, Piper Arrow PA-28T, Multi engine Piper Seminole PA-44T, and Piper Seneca PA-34T. All its Piper aircraft are equipped with a GNS 530 and GNS 430 GPS.
Capt. Hanadi Zakariya Hindi is the first accredited female Saudi pilot to fly planes in Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom Holding Company hired her shortly after qualifying six years ago.
“Women are very capable of taking on any job previously monopolized by men,” Hindi said at the time she was recruited by the company. She had her Commercial Pilots License and an Instrument Rating from the Mideast Aviation Academy in Jordan.
She said she understood the thinking behind the ban on womens driving in Saudi Arabia, but argued that flying was different.
Capt. Yasmin Al-Maimani is the second accredited Saudi female pilot. She studied flying at the Royal Jordan Air Academy.

People still don't understand that driving is symbolic since it is one of the last few things the backward religious clergy has. If they lose that they lose everything so they will fight to the last blood for it. We have flying schools for women but no Driving schools that should say a lot on its own.

It says how dumb the system is out there.

Mosamania,

Driving or no driving is not a thing to worry about. Their land, their laws, who are we (outsiders, not you) to comment.

But what really caught my eye were the two statements in the news posted here.

First one says "No laws prohibit women from driving..."

Second one says "Najalaa Harriri, who is also facing court for driving..."

When the court of law comes under the pressure of religious clergies (extremists, to be correct) and goes on to overrule itself, then how can you say "last few things"?

It seems that the last word on that land belongs extremists and not to the courts.

It is fuc...ed up I agree but it is not dumb. With each year the support for the religious clergy within Saudi society is declining. Soon they will be in the minority then the government will be free to nip and tuck at the rules.

Forcing radical change is a big mistake many countries have fell for.

As I said earlier the Religious clergy is in control of the Judiciary system (The process of getting them out is already under way Saudi to overhaul judicial system - Politics & Economics - ArabianBusiness.com ). Still there are some hurdles to be faced here and it will take some time before it is complete especially with the wave of discontent it is facing from the religious clergy.

LOL PAkistani's killing themselves every week by the lovely taliban, yes india raped you guys twice no wonder we support them we wish you support israel go on, yeah alot prettier?? then your women thats for sure :coffee:

Lot prettier what u mean “lot prettier”???

You really wanna know???? Most of your women are descendants of the crusaders who f**** your people for 400 years and gave them blue eyes and blond hair!!

Then the French came and gave an equal mixture powder to distinguish white Syrians with “black natives”.

At least ours are pure and well respected!!! There are 10 different ethnicities in Pak each has its own different cultural values…..

India raped us twice????? BS They only got more involved in 1971 when there was an internal conflict in Pakistan. Pakistan and Bangladesh were separated by 1,600 kilometres not even the Americans could defend that if they were in our position.

In any case we fought alone shoulder to shoulder against the Indians and not unlike you cowards who don’t attack Israel unless there are 5 countries involved !!!!
