The second pair of the second batch of 48 Typhoons for the Royal Saudi Air Force roll down the runway at Warton as they head to the kingdom. (Neville Beckett)
BAE Systems is progressing with the delivery of the second tranche of 48 Eurofighter Typhoons to Saudi Arabia with the departure for the kingdom of the second pair from company's facility at Warton in the UK on 27 June.
With delivery of the first 24 Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) Typhoons from Warton having been completed in September 2011, the final 48 were due to be manufactured at the Al Salam Aircraft Company in Saudi Arabia.
However, problems in reaching an agreement with the part-Boeing-owned plant meant that production was retained by BAE Systems in the UK. This led to an 18-month delay in deliveries, which were restarted in February.
