RIYADH: Saudi Health Ministry has decided to recruit nurses from Pakistan and a policy has also been finalized on this count.
According to Saudi newspaper website, the Saudi health ministry has decided to fill the posts of para-medical staff lying vacant in its hospitals to appoint nursing staff from different countries like Pakistan, Egypt and Sudan.
The documents for the female nursing have been dispatched to three countries, for finalizing the hiring process. Pakistan has been given priority among all other countries and maximum nursing staff will be recruited from Pakistan.
The Saudi Health Ministry has said that the nurses would be appointed specially in the hospitals at Jeddah, Makkah, Madina, Hayil, Qassim, Hasa, Asir and southern province of Saudi Arabia. The health Ministry has decided to enroll more than 26,000 foreigner nursing staff.

what happened to their own nurses?
oh right, they're locked up in their husband's breeding room cum kitchen ;)

Don't send them. Let the Indians and Afghans send their nurses. These are also very brotherly countries of KSA.

Slowly south Asian countries are withdrawing labour services. Though we have an official warning for those who go there, there are still people who do.

If only they could treat people with regular respect. I have heard some really bad horror stories especially from women.

of course honour issues are there , KSA needs to transform their society .

I hope majority of nurses go from Pakistan and can earn good money apart from getting international experience

How about keeping them at home and training them here? We have no shortage of hospitals and patients in our own country.

Exactly. Let's keep our mothers and sisters at home and train them here instead of sending them abroad to a foreign country.

If thats the perception, then keep them inside 4 walls.
However since they have already found a professional career then growth, experience, better salary should be sought out too. Medical field has a lot of growth potential.

RIYADH: Some government health care institutions have decided against renewing the contracts of non-Saudi women diploma holders working in hospitals and health centers.
A large number of non-Saudi women, who work as Patient Care Assistants (PCA), are expected to wind up their jobs in Saudi Arabia when their current residency permit expires.
Foreign nurses are mainly from countries such as the Philippines, Malaysia, South Africa, India, Canada, the US and Australia.
The issue is not relevant to hospitals run by the Health Ministry because it does not employ diploma holders for nursing jobs, said Dr. Khalid Al-Mirghalani, ministry spokesman.
“Our male and female nurses, irrespective of the nationalities, do hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing,” he told Arab News.
The ministry gives top priority to Saudi nationals in all jobs, include nursing, Dr. Al-Mirghalani pointed out.
“We consider foreigners only in rare disciplines where the locals are not available,” he added.
Sources, cited by local media, said some hospitals have already announced plans to terminate the services of diploma-holding non-Saudi nurses.
Authorities have asked the officials in their respective personnel departments to inform these women about the decision, said the sources.
It has also urged these officials to take signatures of those non-Saudi women nurses whose contracts are coming to an end to accept the pink slips.

very nice step because nurses get salary of 7, 8 thousand riyal per month plus incentives for family this will help Pakistani Female Nursing Staff to fullfil their dreams after getting jobs inthis field and a huge source of revenue for Pakistan. Indian
Nursing staff in all gulf region earning billions of dollars in this field and living 500% more standard life than india itself because in india there they get only 20000, 25000 thousand rupee job but in gulf region they are getting 8000 AED/Riyals and huge source of income for their country same like doctors getting 15 to 25 thousands AED/Riyals per month

I'll take this with a bit of salt. KSA only prioritizes recruitment of its own citizens and even that is coming under the shadow of doubt due to falling oil prices.
