DHAKA: A Saudi Arabian diplomat was shot in the chest and died in the Bangladesh capital in the early hours of Tuesday, the deputy commissioner of Dhaka police said.

Police found Khalaf Al Ali's body at an intersection just two buildings away from his residence in the city's upmarket Gulshan district and rushed him to a hospital where he died three hours later, Lutful Kabir said.

"He was hit by a bullet in the left chest," he said, adding that the 45-year-old was the head of Saudi citizen affairs at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.

The police did not give any indication of who might have been behind the attack.

The embassy confirmed the death, but would not give further details.

Saudi Arabia is a key ally of and a major donor to Bangladesh.

More than two million Bangladeshis work in the ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom, accounting for a quarter of the country's total overseas population.

My his soul rest in peace

I hope the killer will see the punishment he deserves

Now please to all PDFers, don't turn this into politics and turn it into irani or israeli assassination
I don't see why would any one benifit from killing a diplomat in Bangladesh, as Bangladesh is not participating in any hostility towards any one
الله يرحمه

The Most Probable Reason seems to be that the Bangladeshis who were arrested in Saudi Arabia and Deported back may have killed him for the Revenge.

Saudi Arabia should place a Permanent Ban on Bangladeshis from entering the country.

From Personal Experience in my country Illegal Bangladeshis have been responsible for Petty Crimes, Gang Rapes to Terrorism

From Personal Experience, Better to be Safe than Sorry! (Illegal Bangladeshis)

You Indians wouldn't stop your snaky attacks on others. Do Not bring politics into it.

May his soul rest in peace. Ameen.

This is a very unusual incident.

Anything is possible in Bangladesh as in putting a man's brain out and putting it back again fully functional.

with all these murders/ attempted murders going on, on the lives of diplomats in the region, I am happy I am not one :yahoo:

^^I don't know about your xenophobic experiences, but Bangladehis in Saudi are not illegal. In fact, they get trapped and have their passports taken by their companies once they realize they've sold themselves to slavery.

Maybe that could be the reason. Once they are free from the clutches and deported, some frustrated Bangladeshis may have taken this step!

You never know. Could also be some family member of one of those many Bangladeshis beheaded there. To be honest, we're only bothered because it was our country's duty to protect this diplomat. Otherwise we could care less.

Could be.

How will it affect the relationship with the Sauds?
