It is on this count that that I tend to be more critical of the Saudis because the extremist ideology the fund is far more noxious and widespread (partly because they have a larger potential audience given Pakistan's Sunni majority) than anything the Iranians have funded.

The extremism funded by the Saudis forms the foundation of terrorist ideology followed by groups like ISIS, TTP, Lashkar e Jhangvi. I have yet to see a Shia terrorist group, in the last 20 years, that comes anywhere close to practicing the kind of depravity shown by groups like ISIS/TTP.

What kind of mindset justifies shooting children point blank in the face, as happened at the Army Public School in Peshawar?

What kind of mindset rationalizes the cold blooded massacre of 40 innocent men and women in a bus, solely for being Ismaili?

I am perfectly fine with that, as long as we, as a country, agree that foreign material support of any kind to religious entities or entities with any kind of religious affiliation whatsoever should not be allowed.

The Saudis and Iranians are welcome to invest in non-religious programs in LUMS, NUST, IBA, KU, PU or other Pakistani colleges and universities without any religious affiliation.

They are welcome to invest in healthcare and infrastructure in Pakistan, but they (or anyone else) should not be allowed to fund religious activities of any kind in Pakistan.

I'm talking about religious leadership in Iran. On a personal level, all are welcome to our house as guests; Shia, Islmaeli, Secularists, Christians, etc. Fyi, when I was in the Middle-East, one of my closet friend was a son of an Iranian diplomat. If i remember correctly, he was from Isfahan.

During Ashura, there were stranded shia musafar (husband and wife) and we helped them. We told them to go to the Pakistani Embassy, he said the Embassy told them, ''we want someone to give them money''!
