I have a question. What is stopping KSA from opening up to tourism at present?

KSA is already the 15th most visited country in the world due to Hajj and Umrah alone. Likewise millions visit KSA due to business. However the potential of KSA is basically unlimited due to Hajj and Umrah.

For KSA to truly become a tourism hub (which is very much possible due to the special case that KSA is) you need to change the visa rules fundamentally (currently KSA has one of the harshest visa rules on the planet), change many laws that are a hindrance to tourism and develop the necessary infrastructure. A vibrant tourism sector is one of the goals for the Saudi Vision 2030. I believe that it will be accomplished not far from now but it should have happened ages ago if not decades ago. A long story short, it's mostly KSA shooting itself in the foot as with many other topics.

Yes Saudis don't run around doing good deeds holding camera in their hands just like westerners. Good deed should be between the person and Allah. But Saudi government should take initiative to counter Iranian propaganda against the Kingdom. Just yesterday a forum member here said Saudi police deport If they see any Shia and give rewards If you inform the police of Shia whereabouts in the Kingdom. There are millions of native Saudi Arabian Shias (Twelver, Ismailis and Zaydis) let alone the expat Shias (Arabs and non-Arabs). Never heard such bullshit in my life. However if those individual Shias voice open support for "Shia" terrorism groups or voice support for enemies, of course they will be targeted, similar to how local and foreign "Sunnis" are targeted when they do the same.

And where is the proof of such nonsense? Some Pakistani transgender making empty stuff up and allegations that no other media has even voiced or talked about? And this is KSA. Police can't just apprehend people and kill them without facing harsh punishment. Law and order rules KSA. Not even princes are save whenever they kill as the recent executions of 2 princes confirm. Absurd news.

And don't you understand that this was a personal choice of 1 family? What's your problem and what has that to do with Arabs? If you read, it wasn't the government that pardoned anyone, it was the family itself. Whether the person who died was Israeli, Indian or Pakistani had zero to do with the decision

Also this would not have been possible in a Western country for instance. This Indian man (the murderer) would have been punished regardless of the wishes of the victims family. That's what I value highly about Sharia law.

Depends on the circumstance. Pre-meditated murders are often dealt with harshly.
Manslaughter has prison sentence, but only if the victim showed disregard for human life etc. say a drunk driver kills someone.
Murder as a result of self defense is often pardoned.

Nevertheless, I do think the family must have a big heart to be able to forgive someone who killed their son. It's not easy!

Ahem There are so called Muslims who are worse thn any creature walking on this Earth. Whether It is Pakistan, Iran or Saudi Arabia. Bad people are everywhere and Islamic law doesn't allow any individual to cut hands by themselves.There are laws which should be followed by every Muslim. AFAIK They cut hands of prolific thieves and mostly they just jail or deport the person. I know a guy who is my friend's younger brother He used to snatch women purses with his friend in a minivan outside the malls. Once he dragged an Egyptian female along with her purse and her head hit the footpath. She survived but what happened after is that they finally got caught and jailed and deported no hands cutting. I have heard and witnessed fkd up sht here but when I read news about Pakistan Saudi seems much more humane and peaceful country.
