You can link everything today through CSi4/5..if the Egyptians who know better can do it, why do you think KSA can not do it?
Just in case the western systems won't function properly in case of war against Usrael for example who knows the codes or can get them easily from the US..you need some other reliable systems to defend yourself, there where diversification of sources comes into play.. you can have both systems in a quasi-two armies, to make sure you are not being played by anyone..
