Well it is a probabilistic whim based on some aspects and not only exxon or eni but Pakistan also had contributed half of money almost. Also its nothing unnatural, many countries have tried many times and wasted money in exploration untill they find one.

This was the latest "exploration," can you tell me since the 1960's how many of these "explorations" have taken place?

I dont know how many, but im sure not as much as it should have been. Currently there is funding and increase of exploration and easing of licenses and terms. The more u spend on exploration the better the chances of finding a good reserve. Many countries have tried many times and invested alot in exploration.

From what I heard, either ADNOC or ARAMCO were to get the deal, but it went south for some political reason.
