What's new

Saudi Arabia expresses interest in JF-17 co-production with Pakistan.

It's a high-profile defense visit.

Other defense-related politicians will come to Pakistan by next week as well.
That doesn't answer my question.

Pakistan doesn't offer anything that you guys can't get from the french or the yankees.

KSA is getting several times better EFT why should they even bother with a thirld world JFT ? .. they just wanted to check how far lagging is PAF . PERiOD !

Saudis are sophisticated and astute Businessmen and know the concept of VALUE.

They understand that by using the the JFT Platform and sprucing it up with the state of the art avionics and sensors as well as highly advanced weapons systems , they can buy/make an aircraft that rivals the best west has to offer, at a third of the price.

I think with Saudi help, JFT can be turned into a highly effective fighter plane that will give its opponents a run for its money.

That didn't go well with Al-Khalid 1, lets hope good for this time/future.

Interest, WILL, no pressure, INVEST, sincerity, dedication and a few more is all it would need for KSA to invest in such a project.

KSA is at a point where they need to invest in 5th gen be it with Chinese, russians [highly unlikely], US, Japan, Korea/Indonesia.

. . .
Why wouldn't they want to earn the bucks :-) Sales of JF-17 can boost there engine sales and I don't think so they would want to loose it. Its not like Pakistan is going to sell their stealth tech so :cheers:

Recently saudi and Ruskies are not in very good relations especially after Iran fiasco and russian station attack.

The Saudi defense delegation which included members of the Royal Saudi Air Force, was lead by Saudi Arabia's deputy minister of defense.

This guy is more concerned about his Thoub than simulator he is sitting in :D

KSA involvement would be a Game Changer for the JFT program.

For the Saudis it will be acquiring and building a 4.5 Generation aircraft at a fraction of the cost.

For all the jokers who think Saudis have money to burn so why would they be interested in JFT, I have news.

Mirza Sahib kar diiii naa Accountants waliii baaat ! :lol:

They - the Saudis - showed us the Middle Finger when we offered them the Al-Khalids despite the AK, according to numerous well reputed posters on this forum, passing every test ! :unsure:

And that is just the point. Saudis will buy weapons from Pakistan if the weapon meets their requirement and not because it happens to be from a Brotherly Nation.

I hate to burst your bubble but Al-Khalid is not the answer to every Army's need.

Al-Khalid is a light-weight Tank which has been designed to suit the needs of Pakistan Army and its budget.

Saudis looked at Al-Khalid but found it unsuitable for the desert environment of KSA.

If they now engage in JFT project, it will be purely on merits of the aircraft and what it has to offer to KSA in terms of value.

@Armstrong, Capisch ?

I know, RSAF wanted similar deal to Block 60 DF US refused it was a strategic blunder on behest of israel but US learned its blunder a costly one realized with Typhoon deal going to UK and now they offered F-15SA but I feel RSAF should have ordered F-35s and upgraded current F-15s to SA standards.

@Aeronaut, clearly it is offered by indians not asked by RSAF but what is so special about it, entire stuff is made in france and israel and USA, with weapons from all 3 states compared to Thunder which can offers weapons from reliable partners like China/Pak. You mentioned Block III i think there is enough time around 4 years more money poured in a program a small stealth aircraft is possible smaller than J-31 development from scratch or based on JFT is possible but again it is about reliability of partner like KSA with no US pressure and real commitment not leaving in the middle, the AK-1 was a very insulting one i think of it personally.

What initially happened was that the RSAF placed an order on more Tornados, ten years later the Typhoons too came to their way. I was kinda happy that we didn't go for the F-16s, I guess the GR4 Tornados and the Typhoons are the best to fit in our standards. Now the RSAF will have the world's most advanced Typhoons.

As for the F-35s, We didn't want to order something which is under testing as of right now, that costs over a $ trillion on the entire program as a whole. Once the F-35s becomes fully operational, we will have a word to say on that.

@Luftwaffe

Indians weren't asked, they offered it unilaterally.

@Yzd Khalifa

If KSA joins at this stage, they can partner in the Block-3, with full access.

It would be a jet designed to meet requirements, from ground up.

And what not sir :smart:

.
So just because some delegates paid a courtesy visit to PAC people started cooking up stories of JFT sales?

.
That doesn't answer my question.

Pakistan doesn't offer anything that you guys can't get from the french or the yankees.

We fly Pakistan jets which we could have obtained elsewhere.

We use Pakistani-modified Chinese mortars which we could have gotten elsewhere.

Thus, I don't think everything been said is entirely true.

Regards

Whatever is in the minds of Saudis, but one thing is sure, all Arabs are dumb.......I know it will burn through some, but this is undeniable reality.............

:lol:

@Aeronaut ^ check who's here, it is the Israeli guy :lol:

And whatever the Israelis have in mind, one thing for sure is that Israel has always and will always be a pan-handling begging parasitic state which has been bleeding ever since it was existed.
