Saudi Arabia executes 81 in one day, the highest in modern history.

Saudi Arabia says it executed 81 men on Saturday - more than during the whole of last year.
The group - including seven Yemenis and one Syrian national - were convicted of "multiple heinous crimes", including terrorism, state news agency SPA said.
Some were charged with belonging to the Islamic State group (IS), al-Qaeda or the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Rights organisations say many do not receive fair trials in Saudi Arabia, an allegation the government rejects.
According to SPA, the latest group had been tried by 13 judges and gone through a three-stage judicial process.
They were accused of plotting attacks on vital economic targets, killing or targeting members of the security forces, kidnapping, torture, rape and smuggling weapons into the country.
Saudi Arabia has one of the highest execution rates in the world - fifth in a list compiled by Amnesty International, the other four being China, Iran, Egypt and Iraq.
It executed 69 people last year.

Im certain that most of these 81 were political executions and didn't deserve to be executed. Also a smart move to do it now while the world is distracted by the Russo-Ukrainian conflict.

They execute in a horrible way.... Saudis have special execution squares in each city where every week they bring criminals and in front of huge crowd and they chop their heads with sword..... there used to be many such videos on YouTube don't know if they are still available....

My friend who used to work in Saudi once told me that most horrible thing is once accused is executed his relatives are forced to clap and celebrate right there in the square.... don't know if it's true or he was just exaggerating.....

When I used to live there the execution used to take place after Friday prayer where a very tall executioner would arrive and he would be given a special sword which is only supposed to be used for execution. The person who is going to be executed is given some drugs probably to end fear and his face and eyes are fully covered. The executioner would then very skillfully chop the criminal's head off and he would do it in such a way that not even a single drop of blood would stain his clothes. The medical team would then immediately take the body to the hospital to reattach the head of the criminal to his body after which the dead body is given to the family of the criminal so that he can be buried.
