The continuation of the caliphate meant that it could be completely under the control of Britain or another hegamon step by step in that days. Think of a Vatican in Islam, a clergy group that is disconnected from its society, and deeply connected to the anglican church.

At least, we need to achieve a minimum of understanding, and learn to walk with an unwavering belief, even if few in number.
