Saudi Arabia blocks Iran from OIC meeting

I understand that Saudi royality is far from being a saint; Khashoggi episode is an obvious reminder. However, journalists can land in trouble in any country including in Pakistan. This comes down to whether you are in the good books of the state or bad due to your deeds. WE live in the era of interests-driven states.

Saudi nationals have a much better life-style than Iranian on average. Muhammad Bin Salman is doing much for Saudi nationals lately.
And for Pakistan too..

.
That is because KSA has tons of money. They have freedom of trade with world. Nothing more than that.

To me entire middle eastern regimes are same crap. Kindly don't try to impose your thoughts on me, be it Iran KSA or any other.

As a resident, i agree a lot infact a huge lot actually dislike the regime in and out.
BUT.. to be honest and i mean it, there are some things which we SHALL appreciate and credit them.
Such as
Drive against Drugs
Implementation of Law (whatever is the law of state)
Implementation of Sharia (whatever is their version of it)
And Lucky Allah made them such, that we are working and earning here.

If they were grated with so intellegence, where would these hundreds of thousands be getting their livings?

. .
How did this become another KSA-Iran back and forth thread?

Simple issue is one, Iran is an OIC member so by banning them from an OIC meeting, KSA has gone against the OIC directly.

Does any one member have the right to ban another member? What recourse, if any will OIC members take?

If nothing, let's go ahead and dissolve OIC. Why do we have it?

Arabs invited India recently to try to humiliate Pakistan. We should withdraw and create a new, more powerful organization based on alliances.

Saudi Arabia blocks Iran from Islamic grouping's meeting: Tehran

FEBRUARY 2, 2020

DUBAI (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia has barred an Iranian delegation from an Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Jeddah on Monday where U.S. President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan will be discussed, the Iranian foreign ministry said.

“The government of Saudi Arabia has prevented the participation of the Iranian delegation in the meeting to examine the ‘deal of the century’ plan at the headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,” ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said, according to Fars news agency.

There was no immediate comment from Saudi officials.

Why is Reuters parroting Fars news agency? Shouldn't they be looking for official statement from OIC?

The OIC like I have said hundreds of times in the past is nothing more at this point a Gulf Arab Country Club

Who will be banned next, Qatar and Turkey? Maybe Pakistan and Malaysia down the line?

We already have ineffectual Arab league and KSA-run GCC, why do we need another organization?

We need a neutral venue to promote economic ties and create new political alliances. Kuala Lumpur summit is a good start.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman says Saudi Arabia has once again abused its right as the host of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)’s secretariat in the city of Jeddah, barring an Iranian delegation from taking part in an emergency OIC meeting, which is aimed at rebuffing the US’ so-called peace plan for the Middle East.

"After unveiling of the so-called ‘deal of the century’ by the US president, the Palestinian Authority and secretary general of the OIC called for an emergency meeting of the body’s executive committee to be attended by the member countries’ foreign ministers to discuss this issue” on Monday at the OIC’s secretariat in Jeddah, Abbas Mousavi told reporters on Sunday.

“However, the government of Saudi Arabia, which is the host to secretariat of the OIC in Jeddah, violated obvious obligations of the host state of this international organization and the evident principles of such organizations, including the necessity of ensuring free participation of the member countries … and refrained from issuing visas to the Islamic Republic of Iran's delegation, which was to be headed by deputy foreign minister, Hossein Jaberi Ansari,” the spokesman added.

He said some OIC members have criticized the Saudi government for taking such an approach and accused it of taking advantage of the host state of this international organization, using the body in an inappropriate way to serve its own political interests and goals.

Mousavi added that the Iranian Foreign Ministry has sent an official protest note to the OIC secretariat warning that Saudi Arabia is abusing its right as the host of the OIC secretariat in order to obstruct the continuation of the organization's activities in different ways, including through imposing restrictions on free participation of member countries in the body's meetings in Jeddah, particularly those, which pertained to the important issue of Palestine.

In its note, the Iranian ministry has expressed serious doubt about the Saudi regime's qualification to continue hosting the OIC secretariat.

Defying international outcry, US President Donald Trump announced the general provisions of the scheme, which he has controversially dubbed “the deal of the century,” on Tuesday, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his side. Palestinian sides were conspicuous by their absence at the ceremony given their vociferous disagreement to the plot.

Trump outlines contentious Palestine scheme, says Quds will be Israel’s ‘undivided capital’
Trump repeats his hugely-controversial endorsement of occupied Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s “capital” as he outlines his administration’s self-styled Mideast plan.

The US president reiterated his hugely-contentious recognition in late 2017 of the holy occupied city of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s “undivided capital,” although Palestinians have historically wanted the city’s eastern part as the capital of their future state.

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Saturday denounced the US-hatched American-Zionist scheme, saying it is doomed to failure and would end in the dustbin of history.

It added that the “disgraceful” plan once again exposed Trump's “vicious” face and the hidden nature of the White House in opposing the Islamic Ummah more than ever and also revealed the “devotion of the terrorist and inhumane US rulers” to the “devilish demands” of the Israeli regime.
