Saudi Arabia announced on Monday that it has decided to work bilaterally with Egypt in several fields, including the peaceful use of nuclear energy, Egyptian state-owned news agency MENA reported.
The Saudi social affairs minister Majed bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi said following a cabinet meeting that the government has mandated president of King Abdullah City for Atomic & Renewable Energy (K•A•CARE) Hashim Abdullah Yamani to work with Egyptian officials to draft an agreement on cooperating in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
K•A•CARE is an independent city established by Royal Order in 2010 responsible for developing Saudi Arabia's atomic and renewable energy programs.
The cabinet also mandated several Saudi ministers to sign agreements with Egypt in other fields including culture, media, education, and agriculture.
Egypt has shown interest in developing power-generating plants following an energy shortage that has caused frequent blackouts in recent years.
Last week Egypt announced it was mulling over offers from Russia and other countries to take part in building a nuclear power plant at Dabaa on the Mediterranean coast.

Interesting. Now KSA has initiated concrete steps in terms of nuclear cooperation not only with fellow GCC nations (mainly UAE) but France, South Korea, China, Japan, Russia and now Egypt. I am quite sure that Pakistan is on that list as well. Good. Arab countries should work together and leave all silly differences behind for the betterment of their countries and first and foremost people. The potential is sky-high which we all know and can see.
