Saudi Arabia And China Team Up To Build A Gigantic New Oil Refinery

Yes, this is HUGE news. Obviously, there is a divide in the Saudi leadership. One faction is pro-USA anti-Iran no matter what and the other faction sees Israel as a major threat, USA as unreliable and Iran as negotiable.

Moving away from the dollar for international oil trade would not be easy for KSA. First it would need to open secret bilateral negotiations with Iran and then get Russia / China patronage for defense. KSA is, to be frank, quite weak in terms of defense and its USA-purchased weapons would be unusable if the opponent is USA or Israel.

Good news for KSA is there is a serious window of opportunity coming up. Israel is going to attack Iran (Israelis Grow Confident Strike on Iran). Obama is very vulnerable in the Presidential elections because Iraq War is lost, Afghanistan is lost (Third NATO service member killed in alleged "green on blue" attack - CNN.com), Syria intervention is blocked, and attempts at China containment merely provoked the rise of Xi Jinping and military hawks.

When Israel / USA and Iran lock horns, KSA can announce the end of the petro-dollar and Russia / China will announce support and military protection for KSA. At that point, USA will be too weakened and its attention too scattered to take direct military action against KSA.

great news.but it will be more better saudis trade oil with gold or at least first make gulf currency and then trade oil in that currency.also there is a need to sign currency swapping deals.

In time my friend in time. The GCC common currency was suppose to go through in 2010 but UAE and Oman are giving us trouble regarding it. However the GCC central bank is going to be finished being built this year and this new currency will be the next biggest currency after Euro in the world.

On one hand, I'm really looking forward to major riyal-yuan currency swaps. On the other hand, it might endanger KSA. USA has a tendency to invade countries that drop the petrodollar.

It is already happening, ironic you may find that Saudi American bank was the first to introduce Yuan banking.

Unlike the west policy of 'either you with me or against me', China has a policy of non interference and friend with anyone who wants to be her friend. She believes in business and people exchanges.
Yes you are friendly with many like India,Vietnam,Japan,US,S Korea and NATO allies . We know the intensity of friendship .

It would be great if KSA could end using the petrodollar system.U.S is dictating it's policies to others with this system.
If KSA (OPEC's largest oil exporter) do this, other nations will follow and U.S dollar will lose it's dominance.

hahaha come on bro, they are a puppet for the usa, do you think that will ever happen?

even if some divine miracle occurred and they did do that, they would be invaded by yankees for supporting terrorism.
that is why americans are very silence about saudis support for terrorists. they will use it against them if they ever get out of line.
