Satellite images provided by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) show that greenery in Pakistan has been growing at double digit rates over the last few decades. All of this rapid greening of the country is the result of intensive agriculture in Punjab and Sindh provinces.

“China and India account for one-third of the greening, but contain only 9 percent of the planet’s land area covered in vegetation,” said Chi Chen, the lead author of a study he did with Ranga Myneni at Boston University. “That is a surprising finding, considering the general notion of land degradation in populous countries from overexploitation.”

The Boston University research team found that "global green leaf area has increased by 5 percent since the early 2000s, an area equivalent to all of the Amazon rainforests. At least 25 percent of that gain came in China. Overall, one-third of Earth’s vegetated lands are greening, while 5 percent are growing browner. The study was published on February 11, 2019, in the journal Nature Sustainability", according to NASA Earth Observatory.

Pakistan's arable land grew by about 600,000 hectares between 2014 and 2016, according to Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). It increased from 36,252,000 hectares to 36,844,000 hectares. However, Pakistan has experienced deforestation in this period. The area under forests has shrunk from 1,515,000 hectares in 2014 to 1.429,000 hectares in 2016.

Two years ago, Prime Minister Imran Khan, then a politician whose party governed the Khyber PakhtunKhwa (KP) province, launched a program called the “Billion Tree Tsunami”. Eventually, hundreds of thousands of trees were planted across the region, timber smuggling was virtually wiped out, and a cottage industry of backyard nurseries flourished, according to Washington Post. Now, the PTI government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan, is aiming to replicate that success nationwide with a “10 Billion Tree Tsunami.”

The forest greening initiative result in China is very impressive. The question is whether it will be sustainable long-term or fail as some of China's previous re-foresting programs have. So far, so good...

Baluchistan is mountain area mostly rugged rock mountains , Pakistan could technically break these rocks and fill a good chunk of ocean and make artificial Islands if we wanted or sell the pure rock as a trading item

UAE carved up artificial living zones near shore with artificial reefs

Baluchistan would need to harvest Water from Sea , to turn around it's fortunes
not just 1 desalination plant but combination of 4-5 Large plants

Baluchistan Terrain is SUPER rugged

only way a farming area can be carved up in it would be of rocks are demolished and sold for housing projects world wide

The Ruggedness of Baluchistan is also one of it's allure as a Unspoiled place to visit

Baluchistan is special

Some areas might be convertible to artificial lakes no doubt

I think it was during the time these studies and reports were coming out that China's reforestation weren't biodiverse.

I'll try to find it.

If a law is passed where all rooftops must have vegetation like small plants to combat the pollution in the cities because the air quality is alway poor in cities. This can help in cleaning the air in the cities by a huge margin.

without biodiversity china's efforts will fail
the mode of failure will be unpredictable

Like in South Korea, have you seen the rooftops in their cities?

They've started a forestation in balochistan

We should be careful here. It's not a simple thing to forest a baren land or cultivate in a forest or baren land there are too many risks involved. Remember India tried to cultivate rahjasthan but also malaria increased many folds. Similarly forestation/cultivation should be done in a manner that the natural ecosystem is not disturbed. Overcultivation may result in degradation of the soil. Conversion of forest to agricultural land may also disturb the ecosysyem and also expose humans to certain new pathogens and invasive alien species (of germs). Not to forget the damage it may cause to the springs and aquifers

No, but in Pakistan the air quality is very poor and with concrete jungle everywhere something like this ought to be done.
Ya, plant even in the smallest place. Also large parks with trees would help too. Like the govt buys like a block of houses and makes it into a large park

Pakistan needs to replan as a whole country from scratch
Rebuilt and build city for the future needs , move major populated hubs create newer smaller greener cities
Otherwise few cities will make whole Pakistan
Which will affect natural ecosystem , population , countrys growth itself
