Soldiers are standing by to evacuate Britons from Pakistan amid fears of a military coup

As the country struggles with the twin problems of severe floods and terrorist activity, British troops across the border in Afghanistan are drawing up plans to remove staff from our Islamabad embassy within four hours.

Britons working in the country have been put on a register and will be told to gather at an assembly point at a time of crisis.

The plan is a sign of Pakistan’s political fragility .

Britain’s High Commissioner Adam Thomson and his staff have been working round the clock to ease the plight of those made homeless by floods. Up to eight million are said to be still dependent on aid.

Pakistan’s president Asif Ali Zardari met Prime Minister David Cameron at Chequers last month and drove home the point that his country was desperately in need of trade, as well as aid, and *particularly wanted access to European markets.

He is desperate for an economic lift and fears that without it, many young men could fall into the hands of extremists.

There are concerns that hardliners in Pakistan’s army are becoming impatient with the *crisis and want faster solutions and a more *determined effort to stamp out the terrorist menace.

A diplomatic source said: ‘‘There are more and more rumours that some people in the military view a military takeover as the best way to bring greater stability.

British soldiers on our soil in operational role ?

Tell them to get a brain there is no coup happening in Pakistan nor we will let them arrive in Pakistan.

Is this supposed to be funny or what? Why would Britons be under threat if there is a military coup? The only people under threat would be our corrupt politicians.Britons can't take normal flight and fly out?SAS cannot even dream about taking any action on Pakistan soil without Pakistan Military Permission.Their Choppers/planes would be intercepted by PAF and forced to land at base; interrogate, arrested & returned to UK.

Tell the SAS not forget to bring some Coffins along if they are going to come to Pakistan with Combat boots.

Hmmmm
This report has more weight between the words than the actual words them selves.
In any coup etc, NO foreign diplomats have ever been threatened or ever been effected.
Coup is a relatively simple operation in Pakistan and does not take more than an hour if the Army does it.

So this report is just about sending a message to Pakistan; nothing in actual.

The only way it'll be a successful evacuation is if such plans have been cleared with Pak Mil. Otherwise they are liable to get shot down.

Lets not make it sound like another ludicrous version of Rambo/GI Joes's blasting their way into Pakistan to secure and 'move out the nukes'.

This could also mean, Briton has info that a millitary coup is going to happen soon :undecided:

We should not be concerned about low rate regional powers like Britishers or their SAS. We can choke SAS in Afghanistan if it really comes down to flex muscles.

Would you please stop posting bullshyt?

because how many foreign diplomats were "Evacuated" by special forces last time there was a coup?

SAS ain't doing nothing. That too within 4 hours. haha, what a joke.

So they can't hunt the militants in Afghanistan, all they can do now is search and rescue.

Speaks well of their abilities!

Relax mate,

Kayani made his stand well clear to all these NATO people number of times.

Pakistan is not Afghanistan.

Smith and Sanders &co are soon to be put out of business. With the planned cuts in British forces due to financial reasons the British military will soon be unable to make any meaningful contribution to any operations. It seems even a Division level effort like that in baghdad 2003 will no longer be possible. sad but true...

this has to be the cream of the PDF so far I ve seen. You made it sound like my dentist removing my badly damaged tooth... (not much difference between an aching tooth and a corrupt politician eh?)
