The way I see it, IK just does not want to create new Pervez Khataks in Punjab. If SMQ or Aleem Khan were given the role they would have created their own power bases in the province, that would have made governance choices as well as next GE nominations difficult for IK. Luckily for IK both SMQ's and Aleem Khan's groups, especially Aleem Khan's group performed terribly during the elections, so they lost the credibility to ask for the CMship.

a province called bahawalpur was a province before one unit .it need an excicutive order to restore that province .
south punjab need a province.
north punjab is a province .

total will be three . state of bahwalpur was merge in paksitan in 1954 as a province not part of punjab .

In my understanding PTI made him CM because PTI wants to divide south into a new province and he is a good choice for south Punjab.
